Laljee Godhoo and Co. started in 1894 by Shri Laljee Godhoo. At that point we solely dealt in ‘Lumps’ of Hing (Asafoetida) that were prepared manually by workers and no state-of-the-art equipment was used. All the items were prepared using hands.
Sale of ‘Laljee Godhoo & Co.’ Asafoetida firststarted in Mumbai, and then it spread to South India which is our number one market today. This turned into achieved by means of Shri Khimji Laljee, with the aid of a Gujarati own family settled in Chennai.
Laljee Godhoo & Co. opened its doorways to the Southern Markets via establishing its First department in Nagapattnam (currently non-operational), and later, Kumbakonam. To meet the growing demands in South India, Shri Umakant Vahalia and Shri Kumud Chandra Harikrishna Bhatt were a great help to LG.
