Here's a simple, classic French toast recipe that serves 2–3 people.

Ingredients

4 slices thick bread

2 large eggs

½ cup (120 ml) milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

1 tablespoon sugar (optional)

Pinch of salt

1 tablespoon butter (for the pan)

Instructions

1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, and salt until well combined.

2. Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt the butter.

3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture for about 10–15 seconds per side. Let any excess drip off.

4. Place the bread onto the hot skillet.

5. Cook for 2–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.

6. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
