To get back to the basics, in terms of how food should be: natural, hand-made, seasonal, organic, varied, slow-cooked. To bring back those almost-lost varieties of time-consuming food preparations which we saw our grandmothers lovingly labour over, but which we find ourselves too busy to attempt in our hectic lifestyles. To bring back to the table those traditional ingredients which have nearly di
sappeared in the onslaught of commercial agriculture. Then, after one of us became gluten-allergic, we realised how scarce and limited the options were for those who could not eat gluten. Nearly every packaged food product has wheat - in some form or the other. Eating out is tricky, to say the least. The other obstacle is that most gluten-free products are just so exorbitantly priced! And that is not fair when it is a matter of essentials - the basic food, which one needs to eat daily. As we went through the process of discovering and experimenting with the various gluten-free options one could find, we realised that there would be others as well, who may not either know about or have access to many of these gluten-free options. So, as the idea of Gourmet Essentials was already taking form, we decided to also focus our attention on making life easier [and yummier! :)] for those who can't eat gluten. While we will do our best to bring you as many gluten-free food options we can find, the responsibility of the quality lies ultimately with the respective makers and manufacturers.
