Beejom is an animal sanctuary and sustainable agricultural farm located in Western Uttar Pradesh; North India. The planting is mostly done with heirloom seeds.

Beejom uses natural farming techniques to grow food. The agricultural practices at Beejom is cow-centric. All the products of the Indian indigenous cows at the farm are used to manufacture organic manure for the fields. The farm hugely promotes indian millets and traditional foods and we see that as the most obvious way of restoring the food security and health of the nation. The farm uses solar power, has rain water harvesting and practices vermi-culture, A bio-gas plant and a cow-urine distillation plant will be soon installed. Our aim is to work with farmers at the grassroot level and help them restore their holdings into organic holistic farms.

🌿 A Beautiful Evening at Beejom

Some evenings stay with you long after the music has ended. ✨

Our Navratri — An Evening of Music at the Farm was one such evening.

As the sun went down and the courtyard came alive, we gathered at Beejom to celebrate music, tradition, togetherness, and the beauty of being close to nature.

🎶 Sudha Raghuraman and her accompanying musicians filled the evening with soulful classical music, creating moments of stillness, joy and connection. From the first note to the final applause, the music had everyone completely immersed.

There was something especially beautiful about experiencing classical music in the heart of our old brick courtyard — surrounded by nature, under a canopy of colours, with family and friends gathered together.

And as the evening unfolded, we came together for the Navratri diya ceremony, bringing a beautiful sense of devotion and auspiciousness to the celebration. 🪔

To everyone who joined us — thank you for being a part of this special evening. Your presence, your warmth, your applause and your energy made it what it was.

At Beejom, we believe some of the most meaningful experiences happen when music, food, culture, nature and people come together. 🌿

The Beejom Classroom — A School Without Walls 🌱

Some classrooms have walls. Some have fields, animals, mud and lots of curious little hands.

We recently welcomed the Grade 2 children from Prakriti School to Beejom Grám Sanctuary for a one-night residential learning experience — where the farm became a classroom, and everyday life became a lesson.

They followed the journey of food from the soil to the plate, discovering where it begins, how it grows and everything that happens before it reaches our table.

At Dung Ho, they made seed balls and pots. They got their hands into clay, explored pottery, handloom weaving and crochet, and met some of the animals who call Beejom home.

Feeding our cows, horses and goats, and spending time with our dogs became gentle lessons in care, kindness and compassion. 🐄🐴🐕

There was something to discover around every corner — a new skill to try, a question to ask, an animal to meet, or a handful of soil to get curious about.

And after all that exploring came farm-made food, shared meals, laughter and happy tiredness. 🌾

At Beejom, we believe children learn differently when they can see, touch, make, care and participate.

A single night may be short, but the experiences we have with the earth, animals, food and people can stay with us for a long time.

Celebrating the women who make rural life richer, brighter and stronger. 🌿❤️

Yesterday, on the International Day of Rural Women, we celebrated with the women of Strijan by Beejom — with laughter, dholak, dance, chai, shakkarkandi chaat, sabudana vadas and plenty of conversation.

Their talent may often go unsung, but their warmth, generosity, resilience and spirit never fail to inspire us.

The celebrations reached beyond our own gathering too, with the Uttarakhand chapter of Strijan by Beejom joining us virtually over samosas and jalebis. Different places, same sisterhood. ❤️

Here’s to rural women — their hands, their skills, their stories and the colour they bring to our world.
