Does Your Cake only Look Good or Taste Good Too? 🤔
In the age of social media, cakes have become more of a visual centerpiece than a true culinary delight. Scroll through any platform, and you’ll find eye catching, over the top designer cakes adorned with layers of edible and non-edible decorations whatever goes with the theme and crafted to impress at first glance. But the real question is do these modern day designer cakes actually taste as good as they look? Sadly, in many cases, the focus on visual appeal is overtaking the importance of flavor, freshness, and the joy of eating a well made cake.
Over time, we’ve already distanced ourselves from real cake experiences by replacing quality ingredients with cheaper alternatives most commonly seen in the excessive use of low grade whipped toppings, artificial flavors, and stabilizers. What was once a soft, flavorful, and rich dessert is now often reduced to a synthetic tasting sponge covered in layers of shortcuts. And if that wasn’t enough, today’s obsession with decorations has taken things further. Cakes are now being dusted with unverified glitters, pearl dusts, and decorative powders many of which lack any certification or clarity about whether they are safe, edible, or even meant for food at all.
Before we built FOOD CREST, we were solely into ingredient distribution. But opening our new outlet changed the equation. People expected us to showcase flashy cakes accessories, glitter, colors, and decorative gimmicks to drive sales. But we chose a different path. Our aim was never to just sell products but to reset the mindset. We decided to keep things minimal and clean, and use our platform to educate customers and fellow creators: that the true essence of a cake lies in its taste, not in its glitter. A cake should feel like a celebration in the mouth not just a showpiece on the table.
It’s time we bring back the true joy of cakes the kind that makes people smile not just because it looks good, but because it tastes even better.
