Islay's oldest legal distillery, founded in 1779 on the shore of Loch Indaal, matures this malt in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks.
On the nose, fresh lemon, honeydew melon and heather honey over a soft, earthy peat smoke.
On the palate, dark chocolate and campfire char, balanced by bright citrus and honey sweetness, then a lingering puff of sweet smoke with a tart citrus edge.

The smoke is softer than the harder, medicinal peat of some other Islay malts, which suits anyone moving from a lighter Highland or Speyside malt into peated whisky for the first time.
