With the capital of only two buffalos, Shri Vishnu Narayan Sane started his Dairy business in 1934 at his house at Laxmi Road Pune. Working hard, Shri Vishnu Narayan Sane along with his better half Shrimati Laxmibai Vishnu Sane expanded the milk supply and production of traditionally made Milk products like Butter, Ghee, Curd and Butter milk etc. Considering expanding horizons of Pune and growing
demand of Milk and Milk products, Shri Vishnu Narayan Sane decided to shift to a bigger and central place. In 1948 after sad demise of Shri Vishnu Narayan Sane, his wife Shrimati Laxmibai Vishnu Sane continued the tradition of quality milk & milk products business along with their son Shri Anant Vishnu Sane. In these hard times many of relatives helped & supported them. As quality of milk and other dairy products were well appreciated by Pune people and the demand increased, Shri Anant Vishnu Sane decided to increase the livestock. He kept on adding 2 cattles every month and the number reached up to 40 cattles in 1973. He started home delivery of milk to households and bulk supply to caterers, Hoteliers & various institutions around Pune. Being from engineering background Shri Anant Vishnu Sane without any help from consultants, successfully built the completely atomized dairy plant in the same premises at Deccan Gymkhana. He hired Dairy Technologists to improve and maintain the quality of the products. As demand for milk increased, Shri A. Sane started procuring milk through collection from agriculturally rich & famous southern part of Maharashtra, i.e. Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara & Karad. Understanding customer feedbacks and timely needs, he kept on experimenting and struggling to fulfill quality parameters and consistency. Sane took lot of efforts to make people aware about the consumption of Cow milk and products made from Cow milk. The Cow Butter and Cow Ghee became very popular amongst people due to it’s quality richness and health benefits. In this entire journey, Shri A. Sane did not take single paisa loan to grow the business. Sane Dairy Empire has taken very good shape and now having six own branches across Pune. Sane, at the age of 83, is capably looking after the business. His son Shri Gunesh Anant Sane and daughter Mrs. Ratna Sane – Gosavi are also helping him to run the show.
