About Gorus Organic Farming Association:
Gorus started in Feb 2008 as an informal ‘collective’ of organic farmers and consumers, who came together in an effort to grow organic food in partnership with consumers, so that farmers could receive a fair price for their produce throughout the year, and consumers could participate in farming and receive organically grown food at a reasonable price. In Au

gust 2013, Gorus was registered as a Not-for-Profit Company under section 25 of the Indian Companies Act of 1956, and named Gorus Organic Farming Association. Gorus trains small farmers in Pune district in organic and natural farming practices, and provides a market platform with a year-round guarantee of purchase at an assured price. At present, about 35 farmers growing vegetables and fruit, and more than a 100 farmers growing cereals, pulses, millets, and oilseeds are part of Gorus. A staff of five women and five men from the local area work full-time at Gorus, and participate in transporting, sorting, packing, and delivering organic farm produce. Gorus has also connected with more than 10 rural enterprises across five states (Maharashtra, Karnatak, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh) which produce organic, eco-friendly products.
