“If AI takes my job, I’ll quit and start farming” 🌱

After my previous reel,some of you were interested in the numbers…
So here’s a detailed post with the same breakdown 👇

Taking arecanut (adike) as an example:

👉 1 acre (~400 trees)
➡️ Income: ~₹5.3 LAKH

Sounds great, right? 😄

But…

👉 Expenses: ~₹2.9 LAKH
👉 Actual profit: ~₹2.3 LAKH (~55%)

Now scale it 👇

👉 5 acres → ~₹12 LAKH/year

But…

👉 Land cost: ~₹2 CRORE 😳
👉 ROI: ~6%

So what does this mean?

✔️ Farming = steady income
✔️ Wealth = land appreciation

Farming is NOT easy money like reels show.
It’s income + investment + patience 🌱

How much is one arecanut fruit actually worth?

Let’s break it down with a simple calculation 👇

• 10 kg fresh arecanut fruit → ≈ 4 kg dried arecanut (≈40%)
• 4 kg dried → ≈ 2 kg usable (chali/bette)
➡️ Overall recovery ≈ 20%

Now per fruit 👇

• Average weight of one fruit ≈ 35g
• Final usable (chali/bette) ≈ 7g per fruit
• Market rate ≈ ₹550 per kg

➡️ So,
1 fruit ≈ 0.007 kg × ₹550
= ₹3.85 (≈ ₹4 per fruit)

So let’s do a quick reality check 👇

I’m taking arecanut (adike) as an example — one of the most profitable crops.

👉 1 acre (~400 trees)
➡️ Yield: ~1040 kg (≈ 4 kandi in coastal terms)
➡️ Income: ~₹5.3 LAKH (at current market rates)

Sounds great, right?

But here’s the full picture 👇

👉 Expenses per acre: ~₹2.9 LAKH
(labour, spraying, harvesting, maintenance etc.)

👉 Actual profit: ~₹2.3 LAKH
➡️ ~55% margin

Now let’s scale 👇

👉 5 acres → ~₹12 LAKH/year profit

But…

👉 Land cost (5 acres in coastal region): ~₹2 CRORE 😳

👉 Return on investment: ~6% per year

So what does this mean?

✔️ If your goal is steady income → farming can work
✔️ If your goal is wealth → land appreciation plays a big role

Farming is not as simple as it looks in reels.
It’s a mix of income + investment + patience.
