One tree. Two spices. Generations of income. 🌳💰

Did you know a well-maintained nutmeg tree can start yielding in around 4–5 years if it’s a grafted plant and can continue producing for decades?
And the most interesting part — one fruit gives us two spices! 🌰
The seed inside is nutmeg, while the bright red covering around it is mace.
A mature tree can produce a significant harvest every year, and mace can fetch a much higher price than nutmeg.
There’s even more to this fascinating tree — male and female flowers are usually found on separate trees, making nutmeg farming a little more interesting! 🌱

One healthy plant → many new plants! 🌿

Did you know you can grow Ivy Gourd (Tindora) without starting from seeds? 🌿
One of the easiest ways is through stem cuttings. Take a healthy, mature stem from a productive mother plant, plant it in moist soil, and let nature do the rest. 🌱

The nodes on the stem are important because they can develop new roots and shoots. And when you see those tiny green shoots emerging from the old stem… that's when you know new life has begun! ❤️

The biggest advantage of stem cuttings is that they can establish faster than growing from seeds. More importantly, taking a cutting from a healthy, fruiting mother plant helps retain its characteristics.

With seeds, you don't know whether you'll get a male or female plant. But propagating from a productive female plant gives you a much better chance of getting another fruiting plant.

From last year’s okra to this year’s harvest 🌱💚
Two months ago, we planted seeds saved from the okra we grew in our farm last year.
And today, those tiny seeds have turned into a beautiful harvest! 🌿
Plucked fresh, washed, cut and finally made into one of our favourite dishes — Kayi Huli. 😋

Nature never stops inspiring us. 🌿❤️

Two years ago, this rambutan tree was completely uprooted. We had almost given up on it. Yet, against all odds, it produced fruit last year and again this year.
Sometimes, all it takes is strong roots and time.

🌰 ಜಾಯಿಕಾಯಿ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ 'ಕಾಯಿ' ಅಲ್ಲ ಅನ್ನೋದು ಗೊತ್ತಿತ್ತಾ? 🤯
ಈ ಸುಂದರ ಹಣ್ಣಿನ ಒಳಗೆ ಎರಡು ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಮಸಾಲೆಗಳು ಇವೆ.
❤️ ಜಾಪತ್ರೆ (Mace) – ಹೊರಗಿನ ಕೆಂಪು ಪದರ. ಇದು ತುಂಬಾ ಸುಗಂಧಭರಿತ, ನಾಜೂಕಾದದ್ದು ಹಾಗೂ ಜಾಯಿಕಾಯಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಬೆಲೆಬಾಳುವ ಮಸಾಲೆ.
🖤 ಜಾಯಿಕಾಯಿ (Nutmeg) – ಒಳಗಿನ ಬೀಜ. ಇದನ್ನು ತುರಿದು ಗರಂ ಮಸಾಲೆ, ಬಿರಿಯಾನಿ, ಪುಲಾವ್, ಕುರ್ಮಾ ಮತ್ತು ವಿವಿಧ ಕರಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ಸಾಕು, ಅಡುಗೆಯ ರುಚಿಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
🌳 ಆರೋಗ್ಯಕರ ಜಾಯಿಕಾಯಿ ಮರವು 50–60 ವರ್ಷಗಳವರೆಗೆ ಹಣ್ಣು ಕೊಡಬಲ್ಲದು.
ಹಣ್ಣು ಈ ರೀತಿ ಸ್ವತಃ ಬಿಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ ಅದು ಕೊಯ್ಲಿಗೆ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ ಎನ್ನುವ ಸಂಕೇತ.
ಮುಂದಿನ ಬಾರಿ ಬಿರಿಯಾನಿ ತಿನ್ನುವಾಗ ನೆನಪಿರಲಿ—ಅದರ ಸುಗಂಧಕ್ಕೆ ಜಾಪತ್ರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಜಾಯಿಕಾಯಿ ಎರಡೂ ಕಾರಣ! 😍

ಮೋಟ್ಟೆ ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡ್ರಾ? 😄
ಇದು ನಮ್ಮ ರಂಬುಟಾನ್ ಹಣ್ಣು. ❤️
🌴 "ರಂಬುಟಾನ್" ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರು Malay ಭಾಷೆಯ "Rambut" ಎಂಬ ಪದದಿಂದ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಅದರ ಅರ್ಥ "ಕೂದಲು".
😋 ಇದು ತುಂಬಾ ಸಿಹಿ ಹಾಗೂ ರುಚಿಯಾದ ಹಣ್ಣು. Lychee ಕುಟುಂಬಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದೆ.
✨ ಹೊರಗಿರುವ ಕೂದಲಿನಂತಿರುವ ಭಾಗ ಚುಚ್ಚುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದು ತುಂಬಾ ಮೃದುವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ.
⚠️ ತಿನ್ನುವಾಗ ಒಳಗಿನ ಬೀಜವನ್ನು ನುಂಗಬೇಡಿ.

🌿 ಈ ವರ್ಷದ ಸಸಿಗಳು...

ಒದ್ದೆಯಾದ ಅಡಿಕೆ ಹೊಟ್ಟು, ಸುಟ್ಟ ಮಣ್ಣು, ಗ್ಲಿರಿಸಿಡಿಯಾ ಎಲೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬೆಡ್ ತಯಾರಿಸಿ, ಕಳೆದ ವರ್ಷ ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಬೀಜಗಳನ್ನು ನೆಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
