Paneer Tikka Masala is a popular vegetarian Indian dish that is made with marinated paneer cubes cooked in a creamy and spicy tomato-based gravy. Here's the recipe:
Ingredients:
For the Paneer Tikka:
250g paneer, cut into cubes
1/4 cup yogurt
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder
Salt to taste
1 tbsp oil
For the Masala Gravy:
2 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 onion, finely chopped
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
2 tomatoes, pureed
1 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala
Salt to taste
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
1 tbsp butter
Chopped cilantro leaves for garnish
Instructions:
To make the Paneer Tikka, mix together the yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt and oil in a bowl. Add the paneer cubes and mix well. Let it marinate for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Thread the paneer cubes onto skewers and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned.
To make the Masala Gravy, heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute. Add the tomato puree, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt and 1/2 cup water. Cook for 10-15 minutes or until the gravy thickens.
Add the cream and kasuri methi to the gravy and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
Melt the butter in a separate pan and add the paneer cubes. Sauté until lightly browned.
Add the paneer cubes to the gravy and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
Garnish with chopped cilantro leaves and serve hot with rice or naan.
