This is another variety of karvy/karvi. The flowers bloom once in 7 years. Plant dies after producing seeds.

We just put mulching paper on our strawberry saplings. This is to prevent w**ds from growing, conserve moisture and prevent berries from touching the soil. Our strawberry is 100% organic, we use no chemical w**d killers, pesticides and fungicides.

Our organic strawberry will be available in a few weeks.

Some information about ferns of Western Ghats :

The Western Ghats are home to around 320 species of ferns.

Western Ghats are a rich habitat for ferns and fern allies because of its many habitats, including evergreen forests, grasslands, and perennial streams. The southern part of the Western Ghats has greater species diversity due to its higher altitudes, cooler climate, and more rainy months.

Ferns are an important part of the ground flora in the evergreen forests of the Western Ghats. They are sensitive to microclimate changes, so any disturbance to them can affect the biological balance of the forest ecosystem.

Flora of our farm 2 :

Narkya (नरक्या) Mappia Foetida : Flowers every year in later part of monsoon.
Narkya is native to the Western Ghats and is endangered. The flowers have distinctive, unpleasant smell.

It has many medicinal uses, including:
Camptothecin (CPT): A promising anti-cancer compound found in the bark and sap of the tree. CPT is also used in AIDS chemotherapy and is effective against parasitic trypanosomes and leishmania.

Anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antimalarial properties found in the leaves of the tree.

Karvy, (कारवी) Strobilanthes callosa, blooms once every seven years. This variety is going to bloom this year at our farm. The plant dies after dispersing the seeds.

The blooms will be purple.

Fresh free range eggs from our farm are now available. Our hens roam a large area, enjoying fresh air and living free of cages or large, cramped areas.

We do not give any antibiotics or hormones to our hens.

We do not add any artificial colour to our feed to make the yolk dark yellow. Our yolk is naturally dark yellow due to varied diet of our hens.
