From Engineering Desks to a Living Food Forest: Our Journey with Mohraan Farms

Years ago, we were navigating corporate engineering jobs and running our business in Mumbai. The shift didn't happen because of a business plan—it began with a question about health, real nutrition, and the quality of food on our family’s plates.

In 2015, we bought a patch of land, started learning natural farming, and committed to showing up every week to get our hands dirty. By 2020, what was meant to be a quiet retreat became our permanent home. We built mud-plastered cottages, planted diverse food systems, embraced unschooling, and opened our doors for guests to experience the honest rhythm of farm life.

Strange how this date keeps repeating itself. This year too, our area experienced a cloudburst out of nowhere — no warning, no heavy rain building up. Just a normal day, and within 15-20 minutes, everything changed.

This is farming. Completely unpredictable. You can't out-plan nature — all you can do is be present, and respond with whatever you have in that moment.

सारे गिले-शिकवे भूल के भी, ये इश्क नहीं आसान — बस आग का दर्या है, और डूब के ही जाना है। 😅

PS: Our team, staff, and guests are all safe. The farm saw minimal damage — just some soil loss in a few beds. Grateful it wasn't worse.
