🍷🎂 Glühwein Cake
Ingredients:
• 225 g unsalted butter, softened
• 150 g brown sugar
• 100 g granulated sugar
• 4 eggs
• 300 g all-purpose flour
• 30 g cocoa powder
• 1 tbsp baking powder
• ½ tsp baking soda
• ½ tsp salt
• 1 tsp ground cinnamon
• ½ tsp ground nutmeg
• ½ tsp ground cloves
• 250 ml Glühwein (mulled wine)
Glühwein Glaze:
• 200 g powdered sugar
• 3–4 tbsp Glühwein
Method:
1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a Bundt pan.
2. Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
5. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture alternately with the Glühwein, mixing just until combined.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
7. Bake for 50–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
9. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar and Glühwein until smooth and thick. Drizzle over the cooled cake.
10. Garnish with dried orange slices, cranberries, cinnamon sticks, and star anise if desired.
