Harvest may be complete, but orchard management is not.

The post-harvest period is an important opportunity to reduce the disease and pest material that can remain in the orchard through winter.

Start with the basics: remove fallen and mummified fruit, manage leaf litter, clear diseased wood and keep orchard equipment clean.

Where scab has been a concern, proper management of infected fallen leaves becomes particularly important. Post-harvest urea application can accelerate leaf decomposition and help reduce overwintering scab inoculum.

The objective is simple: don’t carry avoidable problems from one season into the next.
