Tanger Local Delegation of Land Losers & Affected Families Meets HOP Sawalkote HEP Over Hiring of Outside Vehicle; HOP Assures Delegation of Action; Written Representation Signed by Sarpanch, Numberdar, PRIs & Social Activist Submitted
A local delegation from Tanger, comprising land losers and project-affected families, met yesterday with the HOP, Sawalkote HEP, regarding the hiring of an outside vehicle by AIMIL Limited, the contractor engaged in testing work at the Sawalkote HEP project.
The delegation expressed serious concern over the alleged engagement of a vehicle from outside the local area despite the availability of vehicles belonging to local land losers and project-affected families.
The delegation stated that local land losers and affected families should be given first priority whenever vehicles are required for project-related works. The members further stated that repeated requests had been made to the concerned contractor to engage local vehicles, but no local vehicle was reportedly taken into the work.
The delegation said that if an outside vehicle is engaged while eligible vehicles belonging to local land losers and affected families are not given an opportunity, it is very unfortunate and a matter of serious concern for the local community.
After a detailed discussion, the HOP, Sawalkote HEP, assured the delegation that the matter would be examined and appropriate action would be taken.
Written Representation Submitted to HOP
Meanwhile, the delegation submitted a written representation to the HOP, Sawalkote HEP, bearing the signatures of the Sarpanch, Numberdar, PRIs and Social Activist, requesting that the outside vehicle be replaced with an eligible local vehicle within two days.
The delegation also emphasized that whenever vehicles are required for testing or other project-related works, the requirement should be communicated to local land losers and affected families in advance, so that eligible local vehicle owners can participate fairly in the hiring process.
The delegation urged the concerned authorities and contractor to ensure transparency, fairness and priority for eligible local land losers and project-affected families in vehicle hiring opportunities connected with the Sawalkote HEP project.
Members of the delegation included:
Social Activist Sadam Bali, Er. Abdul Majid, Riyaz Mir, Ghulam Nabi, Bishan Dass and others.
