Part 3 : orchard area where we have sapota, guava and also mango. We started with loads of papaya initially here along with some Banana and as the other trees shaded out these stopped being producing.
Satish's cows eat up banana leaf so in this area they graze with their feet tied to there neck. Not for too long but it still bothers me. So if animals are grazing in your orchards know what they eat, how they rub against the trunks, how they trample on etc.
Slowly but surely here also we have managed to curb much of the parthenium but it still comes in few disturbed edges and where pipes are worked on.
To regenerate this area we mainly rely on mulch and also woody compost. Guavas now have become the sacrificial trees here as they economically not that profitable and have become a huge monkey attractor.
Looking back lot of lessons learnt from the planting of this orchard with support trees. Would do it differently today.
