Úr Bárðardal liggur einnig hálendisvegurinn Sprengisandsleið sem leiðir að Aldeyjarfossi, Sprengisandi og fleiri náttúruperlu

Þar búa þau ásamt 40 kindum, 12 hænum, 2 hönum, 2 köttum og hundinum Flugu, og sinna hefðbundnum bændastörfum samhliða rekstri sveitahótelsins. Þau hafa þá stefnu að vera sjálfbær í lifnaðarháttum og er grunnurinn að þeirra matargerð eftir fremsta megni unninn á bænum. Fljótsbakki Farm Hótel opnar 1. júlí.

Our family run farm hotel offers 12 brand new rooms in an old traditional icelandic cowshed, currently being renovated. Experience Northern Iceland in a homely atmosphere and magnificent nature in close proximity to all the best that the Nordic region has to offer. Fljótsbakki offers a superb location to explore the best of North Iceland in one go. It is a great option to stay for a longer period and do day-trips. Fljótsbakki is located in Bárðardalur in Þingeyjarsveit, right next to the mighty Goðafoss. The farm is centrally based in the north region, between the towns of Akureyri (40 minutes), Mývatn (30 minutes) and Húsavík (30 minutes). It is also at the gateway to the highland road Sprengisandsleið which leads to Aldeyjarfoss, Sprengisandur and other extraordinary places. Laugar are 15 minutes away with their excellent swimming pool. Fljótsbakki is an excellent place to enjoy the northern lights due to it´s vastness and no light pollution. The owners of Fljótsbakki are Emil and Mæja. There they live with 40 sheep, 12 hens, 2 roosters, 2 cats and their dog Fluga. Shortly 12 beautiful rooms will be ready in the old cowshed, where they will operate a farm-hotel alongside the traditional farming. At the farm, they have a policy of sustainable living, and the foundation to their cuisine is, as far as possible, from their own farm. Fljótsbakki Farm Hotel opens in July 2017.
