Quando ho iniziato a portare il Frappato fuori dalla Sicilia, in pochi lo conoscevano.
Era un vitigno antico, legato profondamente alla nostra terra, ma quasi invisibile fuori da qui.
Io però sentivo che valeva la pena raccontarlo, perché aveva qualcosa di unico: una finezza sua, una voce sua, un modo molto preciso di stare nel bicchiere.
Così abbiamo scelto di fare meno, ma meglio.
Di lasciare che fosse il vino a parlare davvero di Vittoria, senza cercare di renderlo diverso da ciò che è.
Anche Libera, che mi accompagna spesso in vigna, lo sa bene: le cose più vere non hanno bisogno di essere forzate. Per me non si è mai trattato solo di portare fuori un vino, ma di portare con lui un territorio intero.
Oggi il Frappato di Vittoria è distribuito in oltre 30 paesi nel mondo. Ma la soddisfazione più grande non è il numero, è che chi lo assaggia capisce subito da dove viene.

When I first started bringing Frappato outside of Sicily, few people knew it.
It was an ancient grape variety, deeply rooted in our land, yet almost invisible beyond these borders.
But I felt it was worth sharing its story, because it had something unique: its own finesse, its own voice, a very distinct presence in the glass.
So we chose to do less, but better.
To let the wine truly speak for Vittoria, without trying to make it anything other than what it is.
Libera, who often accompanies me in the vineyard, knows this well too: the truest things don’t need to be forced. For me, it was never just about bringing a wine out into the world, but about bringing an entire territory with it.
Today, Frappato di Vittoria is distributed in over 30 countries around the world. But the greatest satisfaction isn’t the number; it’s that those who taste it immediately understand where it comes from.
