Our main activities include hazelnuts production, of the ‘Tonda Gentile’ cultivar, and farming. We have donkeys, horses, goats and chickens that provide us with fresh eggs everyday. Also we run a big veg garden where we grow, next to the usual crops, edible and officinal plants: nasturtiums, borago, tagetes etc to diversificate the production and try to be original! Inside the solar glasshouse we
grow herbs and strawberries. Running the farm is a family with a 1 year old little boy and two young and eager helpers, and the 5 of us are trying a lot of different things such as:
- our own bread and pasta production in the wood oven;
- collecting wild herbs for health purposes;
- making conserves and marmalades with the fruits we grow (cherries, prunes, apples, pears and figs);
- growing edible flowers for yummy salads. Our aim is to stick to the local traditions, both in the crop choice and working techniques, without chemicals and we are strictly bio! Other activities are tending the animals and their pastures, building good looking fences by using local materials (especially wood), general maintenance of the farm house and the lawn, gardening, pruning the fruit trees, collecting fruits and the veg garden produce and its transformation. We like experimenting lost products and food from the tradition, e.g. by employing less used flours such as rye or cereals such as millet. We like a serene environment, happy people as we are, we love music and playing Rock Band evry now and then to relax from the hard working days, and we love having friends around that need a country day out!
