We’re excited to be featured by Abruzzo Live, recognizing the growing impact of our amphora wine making approach—and the value it brings to today’s wine market. At Vinitaly 2026, one thing is clear: wines crafted in amphorae are capturing attention, creating differentiation, and meeting a rising demand for authenticity and distinctive character. This is exactly where our work stands transforming tradition into a competitive advantage.
For partners, distributors, and wine professionals, this is more than recognition—it’s an opportunity to be part of a category that is gaining attention and redefining premium positioning.
English version:
In recent years, wines aged in amphorae have evolved from a niche phenomenon into an increasingly recognizable trend in the contemporary wine scene. This is not merely a passing trend, but a production approach that blends tradition with innovation, focusing on fermentation and aging in terracotta to produce wines that are more pure and less influenced by technological intervention. This context also includes Abruzzo’s presence at Vinitaly 2026, with two leading producers featured at the dedicated stand: Vinum Hadrianum and Tenuta Morganti.
Both work with amphorae using concrete yet distinct approaches. Cantina Hadrianum is investing heavily in this technique, developing a comprehensive line that explores various interpretations, while Tenuta Morganti is carving out an interesting niche, particularly with Montepulciano vinified in terracotta. Among the most compelling tastings, Tenuta Morganti’s “Dolcenera” Montepulciano remains a sure bet: this is no surprise, considering that for years it has reached the final rounds of Gironi diVini, the event that animates the summer in Tagliacozzo, in the province of L’Aquila, and continues to garner strong public acclaim. On the Hadrianum front, the Pecorino “Naevia” aged in amphora stands out—with the diphthong “æ” underscoring its distinctive identity—an orange wine that interprets the grape variety with an original profile consistent with the winery’s approach to terracotta.
