🚲🍷 Two wheels and a fork

At the Cycle Tourism Fair in Padua, GUSTI brought together different perspectives on what it really takes to make cycle tourism work on the ground, through a workshop led by Ce.S.Co.T. Veneto, project partner, in collaboration with Venice Promex (GUSTI task force), with the contribution of project partner Spin Life s.r.l..

From infrastructure and safety, to sustainability as a concrete criterion, from building tourism products along routes to the experience of the visitor, and the role of public institutions in connecting all these elements.

The workshop “Two wheels and a fork - slow travel towards a GUSTI-ful, healthy and truly sustainable tourism” was part of GUSTI’s ongoing work to turn the idea of itineraries into something tangible.

👉 Value emerges when routes, services, businesses and territories start to truly work together.

This is exactly where GUSTI is positioning itself: supporting rural areas in developing coherent, experience-based tourism itineraries rooted in local identity and food & wine heritage.

Thanks to all speakers and participants who contributed to the discussion.

The city of Bari hosted an important moment of discussion for the GUSTI project, funded by the Programme 🤝

Partners from Puglia, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna and Croatia came together to review progress and coordinate the final stages of a journey aimed at promoting the gastronomic identity of the Adriatic territories through a sustainable approach 🌿🍽️

The meeting helped consolidate the results achieved so far and define the timeline for the project’s closing phase, highlighting the growing cooperation between the two shores of the Adriatic Sea 🌊

During the sessions, three key pillars were identified to guide the partnership toward the conclusion of activities:
📍 A study visit in Croatia
💻 An online roundtable discussion
🎉 A final event in Dubrovnik

The synergy between Italian regions and Croatian counties is the key to transforming gastronomic heritage into a strategic asset for the future ✨

🍷 Wine Pairing Spotlight: Italy & Croatia
From the rolling hills of Tuscany to the sunlit Dalmatian coast, wine and food are a love story written in every meal. 🇮🇹❤️🇭🇷

In Italy, think Chianti with hearty ragù, Verdicchio with seafood, or Barolo alongside truffle-rich dishes.
Across the Adriatic in Croatia, sip Plavac Mali with grilled lamb, Pošip with octopus salad, or Malvazija with creamy risotto.

Fun Fact: Croatia and Italy share centuries of winemaking heritage — and even some grape varieties across the sea! 🌊🍇

🍷 Seasonal Sip Spotlight: Croatian Mulled Wine (Kuhano Vino)
Fragrant, spiced, and soul-warming — this is Croatia’s answer to winter’s chill. Red wine gently simmered with orange, cinnamon, and cloves, sometimes kissed with a splash of rakija for good measure. ✨

Fun Fact: In Dalmatia, every family has their own twist — a little fig jam here, a drizzle of prošek there — but the goal is the same: warmth, comfort, and togetherness.

How do you take your mulled wine — classic or with a coastal twist?❤️

Sweet Spotlight: Panettone
Golden, airy, and rich with candied fruit and citrus — Panettone is Italy’s sweetest symbol of the season. ✨
Traditionally shared at Christmas, this sweet classic pairs beautifully anytime of the year with morning coffee, dessert wine, or even a scoop of gelato.

Fun Fact: Legend says a humble kitchen boy named Toni invented it by accident — giving us “Pane di Toni,” or Panettone!

Simple or filled, toasted or fresh — how do you enjoy yours? 💛
