A giugno la vigna è tutta concentrata su una cosa sola: portare avanti i grappoli con gli acini che si ingrossano ogni giorno di più.
È il momento più delicato dell'anno. Dopo la fioritura, l'equilibrio idrico è fondamentale. Troppa acqua, troppo poca, o al momento sbagliato, e il lavoro di mesi rischia di cambiare direzione in pochi giorni.
Non è un caso che proprio in questo periodo arrivi la notte di San Giovanni, il 24 giugno. La tradizione vuole che l'acqua raccolta tra il 23 e il 24 giugno abbia poteri straordinari: purifica, protegge, rinnova. Una credenza antica che chi lavora la terra conosce bene, perché certi ritmi non si controllano, si rispettano.
Il vino nasce anche da questo, da una terra che ha ancora qualcosa di misterioso da raccontare.

🇬🇧 In June, the vineyard is focused on one thing alone: nurturing the clusters as the grapes grow larger by the day.
It is the most delicate time of the year. After flowering, water balance is crucial. Too much water, too little, or at the wrong time, and months of work risk being undone in just a few days.
It is no coincidence that the night of St. John’s Day, June 24th, falls right during this period. Tradition holds that water collected between June 23rd and 24th possesses extraordinary powers: it purifies, protects, and renews. An ancient belief that those who work the land know well, because certain rhythms cannot be controlled—they must be respected.
Wine comes from this as well, from a land that still has something mysterious to tell.

Il più accessibile e piacevole dei nostri quattro cru di Barolo. Non il più facile da fare, sia chiaro.
Il Pisapola nasce a Verduno, da Nebbiolo che cresce a 350 metri, su terreni che regalano freschezza, eleganza e spezie dolci. Rosso granato intenso, profumo etereo, vellutato e armonico. Il punto di ingresso ideale nel mondo del Barolo Ascheri, per chi si avvicina per la prima volta o per chi lo conosce già da sempre.
Abbinalo al film Profumo di donna di Dino Risi: eleganza sottile e seduzione discreta.
O lasciati accompagnare dal quadro La ragazza con l'orecchino di perla di Jan Vermeer: grazia sospesa, uno sguardo che non si dimentica.

Pisapola comes from Verduno, made with Nebbiolo grapes grown at 350 meters, on soils that deliver freshness, elegance, and sweet spices. Intense garnet red, with an ethereal, velvety, and elegant bouquet. The ideal entry point into the world of Ascheri Barolo, whether you’re trying it for the first time or have known it your whole life.

Abbiamo iniziato questa rubrica con una promessa: raccontarli uno per uno.
Francesco, Gabriele, Luka, Davide, Silviu, Roberto, Giuliano. Ognuno con il proprio nome, il proprio soprannome, le proprie passioni e il proprio modo unico di stare in cantina.
Guardarli tutti insieme in questa foto ci ricorda perché facciamo quello che facciamo. Non si fa vino da soli. Non si costruisce qualcosa che duri senza le persone giuste accanto.
Grazie a ciascuno di loro, per quello che portano ogni giorno tra le botti e i tini. E grazie a voi, per aver voluto conoscerli con noi.

Un vino firmato Cristina Ascheri.
Il Gavi del Comune di Gavi nasce dal 100% Cortese, con quel colore paglierino tenue e la vena verdolina che già racconta qualcosa. Bouquet floreale, agrumi, frutta fresca. Asciutto, sapido, armonico. Un bianco che non ha bisogno di spiegarsi troppo.

Abbinalo a Mediterraneo di Gabriele Salvatores: quella leggerezza sospesa, quell'estate che non finisce mai, quella bellezza che arriva quando meno te lo aspetti.

O lasciati accompagnare osservando Elasticità di Umberto Boccioni: tutta energia e movimento, un'opera che non sta ferma, proprio come la freschezza di questo vino sul palato.
Due modi diversi di sentire la stessa cosa, no?

The Gavi from the Municipality of Gavi is made from 100% Cortese grapes, with that pale straw color and greenish hue that already speaks volumes. A bouquet of flowers, citrus, and fresh fruit. Dry, savory, and harmonious. A white wine that doesn’t need to explain itself too much.
Pair it with Gabriele Salvatores’ Mediterraneo: that suspended lightness, that never-ending summer, that beauty that arrives when you least expect it.
Or let yourself be carried away while observing Umberto Boccioni’s Elasticità: all energy and movement, a work that never stands still, just like the freshness of this wine on the palate.

Oggi vi portiamo a volare sui vigneti delle Langhe, patrimonio Unesco.
Quaranta ettari sparsi tra Serralunga, La Morra, Verduno e Roero. Terre che abbiamo scelto di lasciare esattamente così: libere, intatte, senza costruirci sopra una cantina di rappresentanza.
La nostra cantina è rimasta a Bra, in città, dove è sempre stata. Perché il paesaggio non si sfrutta. Si rispetta.

🇬🇧 Today we invite you to take a flight over the vineyards of the Langhe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Forty hectares spread across Serralunga, La Morra, Verduno, and Roero. Lands we have chosen to leave exactly as they are: free, untouched, without building a grand winery on them.
Our winery has remained in Bra, in the town, where it has always been. Because the landscape is not to be exploited. It is to be respected.

Roberto Re, per tutti Bob King, è il nostro sommelier. Collaboratore esterno fisso dal 2019, lo è davvero nel vero senso della parola: puntuale, preciso, puntiglioso. Il tipo che si alza all'alba per vedere il sole nascere e poi passa il resto della giornata a convincere chiunque a fare qualsiasi cosa. Soprattutto a comprare.
Come dice Matteo: può vendere un frigorifero agli eschimesi.
I suoi strumenti? Un naso e un palato sopraffini e un un fascino innato. La sua filosofia? Tutta in una battuta: "I dettagli fanno la differenza tra un tizio e un Tiziano."
Quando non è in cantina lo trovate con un libro di storia in mano. Perché chi sa raccontare il vino, di solito, sa anche raccontare il mondo.
Grazie Bob King, per tutto quello che fai con le tue parole, ma soprattutto con il tuo impegno.

🇬🇧 Roberto Re, known to everyone as Bob King, is our sommelier. A regular freelance contributor since 2019, he truly embodies the role in every sense of the word: punctual, precise, and meticulous. He’s the kind of guy who gets up at dawn to watch the sun rise and then spends the rest of the day convincing anyone to do just about anything. Especially to buy.
As Matteo says: he could sell a refrigerator to the Eskimos.
His tools? A superb nose and palate and innate charm. His philosophy? Summed up in one line: “Details make the difference between a tizio and a Tiziano.”
When he’s not in the cellar, you’ll find him with a history book in hand. Because those who know how to tell the story of wine usually know how to tell the story of the world, too.

Il 1° maggio non è una data astratta.
Nei vigneti delle Langhe, tra i filari che producono alcuni dei vini più pregiati d'Italia, il lavoro irregolare è ancora una realtà documentata. Un dossier recente stima tra 26 e 40 milioni di euro il valore del lavoro nero nel solo biennio 2023/2024.
Noi crediamo che fare vino bene significhi anche fare impresa in modo giusto. Tutti i nostri lavoratori sono assunti regolarmente, con contratti che rispettano i loro diritti e la loro dignità.
Li conoscete già: sono i Custodi del Vigneto e i Maestri di Cantina che raccontiamo su questo feed, uno per uno, con le loro storie e le loro passioni. Perché le persone non sono uno sfondo. Sono il centro.
Buona Festa del Lavoro.

In the vineyards of the Langhe, among the rows that produce some of Italy’s finest wines, irregular employment is still a documented reality. A recent report estimates the value of undeclared work at between 26 and 40 million euros for the 2023–2024 period alone.
We believe that making good wine also means doing business the right way. All our workers are legally employed, with contracts that respect their rights and dignity.
You already know them: they are the Vineyard Keepers and Cellar Masters we feature on this feed, one by one, with their stories and their passions. Because people aren’t just a backdrop. They are the center.

Ci sono vini che non hanno fretta di essere capiti.
Il Barolo Sorano è uno di questi. Nasce a Serralunga d'Alba, da Nebbiolo coltivato tra i 280 e i 350 metri, su terreni marnoso-siltosi che lasciano il segno. Prodotto solo nelle annate in cui vale davvero la pena farlo.
Austero, elegante, con una complessità che si svela nel tempo. Non si offre tutto subito. Preferisce aspettare, come sanno fare i vini che hanno qualcosa di vero da dire.
Abbinalo a Parthenope di Paolo Sorrentino: quella bellezza che incanta senza spiegarsi, che appartiene prima a sé stessa piuttosto che a chi la guarda.
O lasciati accompagnare da lui mentre osservi Il Monarca della Valle di Edwin Landseer: un cervo solitario in una brughiera scozzese, maestoso e malinconico, signore di un paesaggio che lo contiene e lo supera.
Vent'anni di evoluzione lo attendono davanti a sé. Da prendere con calma, possibilmente in buona compagnia.

Barolo Sorano is one of them. It is produced in Serralunga d'Alba from Nebbiolo grapes grown at altitudes between 280 and 350 meters, on marly-silty soils that leave their mark. It is produced only in vintages where it is truly worth making.
Austere, elegant, with a complexity that unfolds over time. It doesn’t give everything away right away. It prefers to wait, as wines that have something genuine to say are wont to do.
Pair it with Paolo Sorrentino’s *Parthenope*: that beauty that enchants without explanation, belonging first and foremost to itself rather than to the beholder.
Or let it accompany you as you gaze at Edwin Landseer’s The Monarch of the Vale: a solitary stag in the Scottish moors, majestic and melancholic, lord of a landscape that both contains and transcends him.
Twenty years of evolution lie ahead. To be savored slowly, preferably in good company.

C'è chi sogna da bambino di fare il veterinario. E poi finisce tra le botti. Per nostra fortuna.
Giuliano Bedino è il nostro enologo. Con noi dal 1996, troppo modesto quando sostiene di non avere superpoteri. Noi non siamo d'accordo: capacità organizzativa estrema in tutte le condizioni, una moderazione contagiosa e la tendenza a risolvere praticamente qualsiasi problema. Se non sono superpoteri questi, non sappiamo cos'altro lo sia!
Fuori dalla cantina lo trovi a tavola con la famiglia, con lo zaino in spalla a percorrere qualche sentiero o tra i boschi in sella al suo cavallo.
Grazie Giuliano per tutto quello che fai ogni giorno. Con quella calma che, a guardarti bene, non è affatto casuale.

🇬🇧 Some people dream of becoming veterinarians when they’re kids. And then they end up among the barrels. Luckily for us.
Giuliano Bedino is our winemaker. He’s been with us since 1996, and he’s far too modest when he claims he doesn’t have superpowers. We disagree: he has exceptional organizational skills under any circumstances, a contagious calmness, and a knack for solving practically any problem. If these aren’t superpowers, we don’t know what is!
Outside the winery, you’ll find him at the table with his family, with a backpack on his shoulders hiking along a trail, or riding his horse through the woods.
Thank you, Giuliano, for everything you do every day. With that calmness that, if you look closely, isn’t accidental at all.
