"Uncompromising small production wines: A celebration of Tuscany" But it was to be almost half a century before he returned to his roots to make great wine.

Pier Luigi Tolaini's energy and passion for excellence saw him build a transportation and logistics company that ranks among North America's best. Pier Luigi's 4-year search for a top Tuscan vineyard brought him to Chianti Classico, to the prestigious region of Castelnuovo Berardenga, and to the properties at Montebello and San Giovanni. When Pier Luigi first set foot on the amphitheatre- shaped v

ineyard at Montebello, he knew he had found the perfect balance of climate, soil, and exposure. High density planted vineyards with lower yield, organic farming practices all require hours of manual labour. the workers at Tolaini live at the winery and are an extended family. we care about their well-being. for this reasons Pierluigi patented and built a personal sized tractor that facilitates the intense work required in the vineyards. The back breaking bending and kneeling once required, is now obsolete at Tolaini. Tolaini wines are gently matured in the cellar in a combination of barrique, tonneaux and 25 hl oak casks. Although certain grapes may be destined for the Estate's top wine Picconero right from harvest, the final blending decisions are made only after 16-18 months of aging.

A beautiful day at , where the Sangiovese for our MELLO 700 is grown at 696 meters above sea level (2286 feet asl) the highest vineyard in the Chianti Classico DOCG. Podere Mello is biodynamic from when it was planted in 2001 by Ruggero Mazzilli, the father of organic viticulture in the Chianti Classico region. 🍇☀️

Today we are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Michel Rolland.

Michel was an integral part of the foundation of Tolaini. Together with our founder, Louie, he helped shape the identity and vision that continue to guide us today.
