IT: La storia della tenuta agricola Castel Sallegg

EN: The modern story of the ancient wine estate Castel Sallegg starts in 1851: Archduke Rainer of Austria, Viceroy of the Lombardy and Veneto purchased the castle and surrounding wine-growing estates in that year. Continued ownership descended from Prince Heinrich Campofranco to the Counts von Kuenburg. The fine cellars in the castle are testament of landed gentry that has always connected castle living with wine creation.

A very special day for Castel Sallegg. 🤍

On August 22, Countess Franziska von Kuenburg married Count Max von Hoyos.

Following their wedding ceremony in Caldaro, family and friends gathered at Castel Sallegg to celebrate this beautiful occasion among the historic walls that have been part of Franziska’s family history for generations.

A day filled with love, tradition and unforgettable moments – and a particularly meaningful celebration for the entire Castel Sallegg team. ✨

We wish Countess Franziska von Kuenburg and Count Max von Hoyos a lifetime of happiness, love and wonderful moments together.

Congratulations! 🥂

Harvest is almost here. 🍇

Day by day, the grapes gain colour, character and sweetness as they move closer to harvest. Each variety follows its own rhythm, shaped by the soil, the sun and the season.

One vintage leaves the cellar so another can arrive.

With harvest just around the corner, it’s time to bottle some wines, creating space for the grapes that will soon be picked from our vineyards. 🍇

Every bottle marks the end of one chapter—and the beginning of the next.

Sunshine, fresh flavors, and the perfect pairing. 🍷
Our Beef Tartare is a popular dish for warm days—light, elegant, and full of flavor. Paired with a chilled bottle of Bischofsleiten Kalterer See, it becomes a true summer classic. This unique red wine is best enjoyed slightly chilled, it is fruity, with delicate spices, soft tannins, lively freshness, and a long, elegant finish.

The 2026 vintage is off to a promising start. 🍇
Our grapes are developing well, with healthy green berries growing steadily in the vineyard. Every season is unique, and so far, nature has been kind to us.
Now we’re hoping for favorable weather in the coming weeks to support a healthy, balanced ripening season. 🌿☀️ With a little help from Mother Nature, we’re looking forward to what could become an outstanding vintage.
