Our SONNTALER Schiava Old Vines has been awarded as regional winner in the “Classic” category at this year’s Vernatsch Cup with the outstanding 2025 vintage!🍷🍇

For the 23rd time, the competition has honored the best Schiava wines of the year, aiming to promote high-quality Schiava and highlight the diversity of this unique grape variety. Our winemaker Erwin attended the award ceremony at the vigilius mountain resort. A heartfelt thank you from the entire team for this recognition – we are truly delighted and grateful for this appreciation!

Zum 23. Mal hat der Wettbewerb die besten Vernatsch-Weine des Jahres prämiert – mit dem Ziel, den qualitätsvollen Vernatsch zu fördern und die Vielfalt der Rebsorte hervorzuheben. At the center of this year’s fair for us: with the 2024 vintage, we presented our first official UGA white wines – and more are to follow. With nine UGA wines from eight different Additional Geographical Units, our vineyard-focused approach now finds official recognition through the new UGA classification of the Alto Adige DOC. A true matter of the heart – and a milestone that confirms what we have been living for decades: vinifying vineyard by vineyard, wine by wine.

Mit neun UGA-Weinen aus acht verschiedenen Lagen findet unser lagebezogener Ansatz durch das neue Lagenkonzept in der Südtirol DOC nun auch offiziell Anerkennung. Eine echte Herzensangelegenheit – und ein Meilenstein, der die Philosophie, die wir seit Jahrzehnten leben, bestätigt: Lage für Lage, Wein für Wein.

Happy as can be: our winery has been awarded “Winery of the Year” by the Henris wine guide under the direction of Otto Geisel, AND our TRES 2018 received 98 points and was named “Red Rarity of the Year.” 🤩🔥

An incredible honor for our team and our 190 member families, and a true confirmation of the tireless work both in the vineyard and in the cellar.

Spring has arrived in our vineyards – and the Easter bunny couldn’t have found a more colourful place to hide🌷🐰🍇

DE | 51.000 Tulpen- und Narzissenzwiebel wurden in einer Aktion der Südtiroler Bauernbund-Ortsgruppe Kurtatsch und .sueden .margreid.kurtinig im Herbst verteilt und gepflanzt… und natürlich waren auch unsere Mitglieder und wir fleißig im Blumenfieber – so wie hier in unserer Merlot-Neuanlage. Das Ergebnis: farbenfrohe Weinberge für ein buntes Versteckspiel mit dem Osterhasen 😉 Frohe Ostern!

IT | 51.000 bulbi di tulipani e narcisi sono stati distribuiti e piantati in autunno nell’ambito di un’iniziativa del gruppo locale di Cortaccia dell’Unione Agricoltori Sudtirolesi e Südtirols Süden … e naturalmente anche i nostri soci e noi eravamo in piena febbre floreale – proprio come qui nel nostro nuovo impianto di Merlot. Il risultato: vigneti colorati per un allegro gioco a nascondino con il coniglietto pasquale 😉 Buona Pasqua!

EN | 51,000 tulip and daffodil bulbs were distributed and planted last autumn as part of an initiative by the local farmers’ association of Kurtatsch and Südtirols Süden … and of course, our members and we were just as busy, caught up in the flower fever – just like here in our newly planted Merlot vineyard. The result: colourful vineyards, perfect for a playful Easter egg hunt with the Easter bunny 😉 Happy Easter!

No fewer than four of our wines were awarded Gold at this year's Mundus Vini Spring Tasting.🏅🔥 Particularly noteworthy: the PENON-HOFSTATT Pinot Bianco 2024, which also received the title “Best of Show Alto Adige white”– the highest distinction awarded by Mundus Vini to the best wines in a specific category, in this case for the best white wine from Alto Adige.

Our PENON-KOFL Sauvignon 2024, VENTIS Cabernet Franc Riserva 2023 and SOMA Merlot Cabernet 2023 were also awarded Gold.

These awards confirm two of our great passions: the vinification of UGA wines, made possible by the altitude difference of around 700 metres and the diversity of our wine-growing area, as well as our enthusiasm for Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, which have found ideal conditions for decades on the first steep slopes of Kurtatsch.

Gleich vier Weine unserer Kellerei wurden beim Mundus Vini Spring Tasting mit Gold ausgezeichnet.🏅🔥 Besonders hervorzuheben: der PENON-HOFSTATT Weißburgunder 2024, der neben der Goldmedaille auch den Titel „Best of Show Alto Adige white“ erhielt – die Höchstauszeichnung von Mundus Vini für die besten Weine einer bestimmten Kategorie, in diesem Fall für den besten Weißwein aus Südtirol.

Ebenso mit Gold prämiert wurden unser PENON-KOFL Sauvignon 2024, der VENTIS Cabernet Franc Riserva 2023 und der SOMA Merlot Cabernet 2023.

Die Auszeichnungen bestätigen zwei unserer großen Passionen: das Vinifizieren von Lagenweinen, möglich durch den Höhenunterschied von rund 700 Metern und die Vielfalt unseres Weinbaugebiets, sowie unsere Begeisterung für Merlot, Cabernet Franc und Cabernet Sauvignon, die in den ersten Steillagen von Kurtatsch seit Jahrzehnten beste Bedingungen finden.

The latest ratings from the Alto Adige portfolio tasting of the wineguide Henris (formerly Gault&Millau) once again confirm our consistent commitment to quality and our path to the very top: several wines have improved even further compared to the previous year, existing top positions have been confirmed – and with 98 points for the TRES 2018, our winery achieves a new record rating.🔥🙌

In the yearly ranking by Gentleman, the Italian business and lifestyle magazine, our FREIENFELD Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 has been included among the 100 best red wines of Italy 2026 and ranks as best red wine from Alto Adige.💯🔝🔥

For the 2026 edition, a total of 2,123 wines were considered, all of which had received top scores in Italy’s leading wine guides: Gambero Rosso, I vini di Veronelli, DoctorWine, Vitae and Bibenda. Our FREIENFELD Cabernet Sauvignon Riserva 2022 ranks in the above-mentioned wine guides with a total score of 469 points. With this result, it leads the Gentleman ranking as the best red wine from Alto Adige among Italy’s Top 100.

For three days, Paris was once again the hotspot of the wine world – and we were right in the middle of it!🔥 For the third year in a row, we spent three intensive days at the joint stand of the Consortium Südtirol Wein - Vini Alto Adige at WineParis/Vinexposium.

This year’s fair was once again a great success – with a record number of visitors also at our stand. For the first time, we presented our official UGA wines as well as the Alto Adige UGA concept, both of which were met with great enthusiasm. Our newcomer, VENTIS Cabernet Franc, also impressed and generated very positive feedback.

If you didn’t meet us in Paris, you will have the chance to see us at Slow Wine Fair (22–24 Feb, Hall 15/C5), ProWein (15–17 Mar, Hall 3/K50) or Vinitaly (12–15 May, Hall 6/C1) – we look forward to seeing you!🍷
