On this the eve of St. John's Day... Acqua di San Giovanni, or Saint John’s Water, is a cherished Italian tradition. On the night of June 23rd, the eve of the Feast of Saint John the Baptist, herbs and flowers are steeped in water and left outdoors to soak in the moonlight and the dew. Here is my own bowl of John's water ready to return to the moonlight by which it was gathered.
