A series of food shots.

Discovering it in the Raisin app (Raisin : Natural Wine & Food ) I had wanted to visit 28 Posti from my first trip to Milan in 2021, but never managed to be there when it was opened.

I finally got to go on the last night of our 2-week trip around northern Italy.

It was well worth the wait and is included in my blog post about the trip on www.winefogg.com/blog

Altatto in Milan is a vegetarian restaurant with a Nordic-style minimalist interior. Altatto

The food is far from traditional, experimenting with various non-Italian spices and concepts.

This was the first time I have encountered a triple chopstick - anchored together at the end. Presumably easier to use for those unfamiliar with chopsticks. I found them quite difficult as it required quite lot of pressure to move them.

The wine list includes some rarities like single-varietal Perera passito (a grape usually only found blended in Prosecco), and the reason for our visit, Cascina Lieto, premium Moscato from a Japanese winemaker in Langhe. Cascina Lieto

Iter Iter
A hidden(?) gem just a few meters away from the busy canal side in Milan.

We found this on the Raisin : Natural Wine & Food during our 2-week trip around northern Italy and spend a slow afternoon with the friendly staff exploring various drinks and cocktails.

Iter is part of a group of cocktail bars under the Farmily Group , each one with its own vibe and menu.

Backdoor43 BackDoor43 is billed as the smallest bar in Italy.

A tiny, atmospheric bar that seats 4.
Reservations must be made in advance with a deposit payable that covers the first drink.
A well-designed cocktail menu with great balance of flavours. Enough variety to intrigue, yet nothing gimmicky.

The barman, Gigi is great and is up for a challenge if you want something off-menu.

Part of Farmily Group , a group of group of cocktail bars in Milan, each with its own vibe, menu, management. It makes for a great cocktail bar exploration in Milan for anyone there for a few days.

Bù Cheese Bar, Bergamo

An excellent wine store / wine bar / cheese bar in Bergamo with everything I could want : wine 🍷…and cheese 🧀
Natural wines also available by the glass.

There’s also a bustling outside terrace area with the aperitivo crowd.

Definitely worth going out of your way four or if you’re in or around Bergamo.

The sign above the bar alternate between “cheers” and “cheese”.

Luca at Bar Nicol, Milan. What a legend! Nicol - Specialty Coffe & Wine Bar -
Faced with a 1-star review (busy day, he made a mistake), he framed it and hung it on the wall behind the bar.

When I was visiting Milan regularly, Bar Nicol was my go-to for a morning coffee and after work glass of wine; even lunch if I had the time.

Unfortunately on my last visit, I didn’t have time to visit, but was reminded of this photo while preparing a series of blog articles on my 2-week trip around N Italy.

Giacomo Boveri is one of Colli Tortonesi’s top producers of Timorasso, with over 20 years’ experience with the grape.

He produces 3 single-vineyard cru Timorasso and a Piccolo Derthona (young vines), showing the effect of soil and exposition on the grape. We also had the chance to taste a mini vertical of the Piazzara cru; always fascinating to taste how Timorasso ages (like Riesling).

I first met Giacomo and his wife Sara at the annual Timorasso tasting event, Derthona 2.0, in 2023, spending a bit more time speaking to them at the following 2024 event, and had been keen to visit the winery and vineyards ever since.

I had the opportunity in July 2026 on the back of a family trip to Northern Italy, where Giacomo gave us a tour of the vines followed by a horizontal and vertical tasting of his Timorasso crus in their bespoke tasting room above their house, where I got to show off my inept photography skills (I blame the heatwave for halving my mental capacity for the fortnight)
