With this harvest we, Alessandro Negro of Poderi Roccanera and me, decided to try on a partly carbonic maceration. Increasingly used for light-to-medium-bodied reds (like Pinot Noir, Grenache, or Tempranillo) and natural w**es to maximize juicy fruit flavors. It gave the w**e a beautiful colour and very smooth taste with an open structure! Happy with the result!

These grapes are called “ second crop “. They appear late summer in the higher ranks of the vine. Normally we take them away because they might extract too much energy from the actual grapes. But some manage to escape the eye and become real grapes

Yesterday was harvest day! Way earlier than the years before! Babo and oechsle told us that it’s fine if we want a low alcohol Pinot Noir! Which we do! Low alcohol opens up alll the flavors of the Pinot in your w**e glass! Cheers and we thank all the beautiful peole who helped us! ❤️🍇🍷 🍇

Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc are not separate grape varieties, but rather color mutations of the exact same grape. Because the Pinot Noir genome is highly unstable, it frequently undergoes spontaneous somatic (bud) mutations in the vineyard, switching off the genes responsible for producing red pigment. And so we have some white grapes in our vineyard! Nature has it’s own ways!!
