Castello Tricerchi

Castello Tricerchi A family history rooted in 1441, the year the castle was founded. We are Brunello di Montalcino producer🍷

A young team wine-obsessed
Organic farming, traditional methods, low intervention are our religion. Castello Tricerchi wine Estate is situated on the northern side of Montalcino. It extends for 400 hectares, 13 of which being covered with Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino vineyards. In the centre of the Estate stands the Castle, built in the 13th century by the Altesi family; in 1441

it was completed by the Tricerchi family, and today it is winery and home of their direct descendants, the Squarcia family. The vinification and aging cellar have been in the same place ever since the 15th century. Everything in this part of the castle is as it was 600 years ago and traditional methods have been conserved, with the inevitable help of technology. Our work is driven by passion, aiming at valorizing the terroir respecting our traditions. All necessary factors to produce a noble wine, like Brunello di Montalcino. Pursuant to the Ministerial Decree of 1982, the Tricerchi Castle was declared an artistic and historical heritage of Italy.

🍷 Three wines, three different stories

2024 was not the easiest vintage in Montalcino: a season of contrasts that, somehow, found its balance.

Our Rosso di Montalcino 2024 is not a baby Brunello — and it doesn’t want to be. It’s all about freshness, drinkability, and pure Sangiovese character.

Brunello 2021 comes from an outstanding vintage, with an early harvest that preserved freshness and balance.

And then there’s A.D. 1441, where history, terroir, and personality meet in the glass.

☀️ Bud break marks one of the most delicate and important phases of the vine’s cycle.

As the season progresses, the vineyard gradually moves toward flowering — a key phenological stage that influences fruit set and the potential balance of each cluster.

This is also the moment when green pruning becomes essential: a careful manual process used to regulate vigor, manage shoot density, improve airflow between the rows, and guide the vine toward balanced growth throughout the season.

Every intervention in the vineyard today is a precise step toward the quality of the harvest ahead.

☀️ What’s Nena’s favorite spot?

Right in front of the castle door, always in the shade, quietly watching people come and go.

Or maybe among the vineyards…
or in one of the many secret corners only she knows.

Part guardian, part nap expert, part official welcome committee.
