L’Azienda Agricola Montioni nel 1978 nasce a Montefalco (PG) e produce olio extra vergine di oliva "estratto a freddo" e vini tipici di Montefalco, tra cui il Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG Fondata nel lontano 1972 per volontà di Adeodato Montioni e lasciata come preziosa eredità ai figli (siamo alla quarta generazione) , la nostra azienda agricola nasce a Montefalco, un piccolo comune in provincia di Perugia. Con poco più di seimila abitanti, il paese si erge al centro di tre valli in posizione dominante sul territorio sottostante ed è per questo che gli viene attribuito anche il nome di “Ringhiera della regione Umbria”. È proprio qui, in questo luogo incantevole e incontaminato, che la nostra attività ha preso vita più di quarant’anni fa e la produzione di vini e di olio extravergine di oliva pregiati ci ha consentito di espandere il nostro mercato fuori dai confini nazionali.

Dopo settimane di controlli e attesa, oggi abbiamo dato il via alla raccolta: 𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼 𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗶𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗹 𝗴𝗶𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗱𝗶 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗲 𝗱𝗶 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼 𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝗶 𝗲̀ 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗲.

Perché per noi l’inizio della raccolta non è mai una data segnata sul calendario.
Sono gli ulivi a darci il tempo: li osserviamo, controlliamo le olive e aspettiamo finché ogni cosa ci dice che possiamo iniziare.

E oggi quel momento è arrivato.

After weeks of careful monitoring and waiting, today we officially began the harvest: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘂𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻.

Because for us, the start of the harvest is never simply a date marked on the calendar.
The olive trees set the pace: we observe them, check the olives and wait until everything tells us the time is right.

And today, that moment has arrived.

È un gesto che si ripete da generazioni e che custodisce una parte profonda della storia di Montefalco. Perché il Sagrantino, prima ancora di diventare il grande vino secco che conosciamo oggi, era legato proprio alla produzione del Passito.

It is a gesture repeated for generations, preserving a deeply rooted part of Montefalco’s history. Because long before Sagrantino became the great dry w**e we know today, it was closely associated with the production of Passito.

Every year, watching these drying racks fill up means rediscovering an ancient tradition that has remained alive through time, and that we continue to preserve with the same care.

Le nostre olive continuano a maturare con regolarità e, dopo mesi di controlli, possiamo finalmente dirlo: 𝐥’𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐡𝐚 𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐢 𝐮𝐧 𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐨 𝐝𝐢 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚̀.🍈✨

E c’è una cosa che rende questa attesa ancora più speciale: le olive sono sane e, durante tutta la stagione, non è stato necessario effettuare alcun trattamento fitosanitario, nemmeno tra quelli consentiti in agricoltura biologica. 🌱

Adesso viene la parte più bella: aspettare il momento giusto.
Settimana dopo settimana continueremo a osservare ogni uliveto, seguendo la maturazione e lasciando che sia la natura a dirci quando iniziare la raccolta.

Our olives continue to ripen steadily and, after months of careful monitoring, we can finally say it: 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐢𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. 🍈✨

And there’s one thing that makes this wait even more special: the olives are healthy and, throughout the entire season, there has been no need for any plant protection treatments, not even those permitted in organic farming. 🌱

Now comes the best part: waiting for the right moment.
Week after week, we’ll continue to observe each olive grove closely, following the ripening process and letting nature tell us when it’s time to begin the harvest.

🍷 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗰𝗼 𝘀𝗶 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼 𝗹’𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘇𝗮.

In occasione del World Tourism Event di Assisi, abbiamo avuto il piacere di ospitare un gruppo di tour operator, accompagnati da APROL, per far conoscere la nostra realtà e le esperienze che proponiamo a chi visita l’Umbria.
Un incontro che dal racconto della nostra storia è proseguito a tavola, tra degustazioni, sapori del territorio e momenti di confronto. Un modo per condividere ciò che ci piace offrire a chi viene a trovarci: il piacere di conoscere Montefalco attraverso il vino, l’olio e le persone che li producono. 🌿

Accogliere chi, ogni giorno, consiglia destinazioni e costruisce itinerari è un’occasione preziosa. Ci auguriamo che questo incontro sia l’inizio di nuovi percorsi da costruire insieme, per accompagnare sempre più viaggiatori alla scoperta del nostro territorio.

During the World Tourism Event in Assisi, we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of tour operators, accompanied by APROL, to introduce them to Montioni and the experiences we offer visitors to Umbria.
After sharing our story, we gathered around the table for tastings, local flavours and conversation. It was a chance to share what we love offering our guests: the joy of discovering Montefalco through its w**e, olive oil and the people who produce them. 🌿

Welcoming the people who recommend destinations and create travel itineraries every day is a valuable opportunity. We hope this visit marks the beginning of new collaborations, helping more travellers discover our corner of Umbria.

🍇 𝑪𝒊 𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒐 𝒈𝒊𝒐𝒓𝒏𝒊 𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒍’𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒐 𝒄𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊 𝒑𝒆𝒓 𝒎𝒆𝒔𝒊.
Poi arrivano e sono intensi, stancanti, bellissimi e, ogni anno, diversi.

Ogni vendemmia ha infatti il suo ritmo e quest’anno il caldo ci ha portato a cambiare un po’ le nostre abitudini. Perché in campagna bisogna sapersi adattare a quello che la stagione porta con sé.

Ci siamo così organizzati con turni di 6 ore, a partire dalle prime ore del mattino, quando le temperature sono più fresche, evitando le fasce più calde della giornata e lasciando libero il pomeriggio.

𝗟𝗮 𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗮 𝗲̀ 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗼. 🚜
Queste settimane è lei a dettare il ritmo delle nostre giornate.

🍇 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒂𝒊𝒕 𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒉𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓.
Then they finally arrive — intense, tiring, beautiful and, every year, different.

Every harvest has its own rhythm, and this year the heat has led us to change some of our usual routines. Because working the land means knowing how to adapt to whatever the season brings.

So we organised our days around six-hour shifts, starting early in the morning, when temperatures are cooler, avoiding the hottest hours of the day and keeping the afternoons free.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗮𝘆. 🚜
And over these weeks, it is the harvest that sets the pace of our days.

🍇 𝗨𝗡 𝗣𝗜𝗖𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗢 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗢, 𝗨𝗡𝗔 𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗘.

Quello che vedete nelle foto e nei video è 𝗶𝗹 𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼. 🔎
È 𝘂𝗻𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗹𝗶 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶 𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝘇𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗹’𝘂𝘃𝗮: bastano poche gocce di succo per misurarne il grado zuccherino e avere un’indicazione sullo stato di maturazione degli acini.

Durante i tour ci piace raccontare anche questi aspetti del nostro lavoro e, quando possibile, 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗶 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗰𝘂𝗻𝗶 𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗹𝗶 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶 𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝘇𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗼.

È anche questo il modo in cui ci piace farvi conoscere la nostra realtà: raccontandovi non solo i luoghi, ma anche il lavoro che c’è dietro.

E durante la vendemmia, tutto questo si vede ancora più da vicino.

🍇 𝗔 𝗦𝗠𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗧𝗢𝗢𝗟, 𝗔𝗡 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧 𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡.

What you can see in the photos and videos is 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿. 🔎
It is 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: just a few drops of juice are enough to measure the sugar content and give us an indication of how ripe the grapes are.

During our tours, we also enjoy sharing these aspects of our work and, whenever possible, 𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁-𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱.

This is also how we like to introduce you to our world: by showing you not only the places, but also the work that goes on behind the scenes.

La vendemmia 2026 è ormai entrata nel vivo e in questi giorni 𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗶 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗼 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗼𝘁. 🍇

Dopo mesi passati a seguire le vigne, controllare i grappoli e aspettare il momento giusto, adesso è il tempo della raccolta.✂️

𝗔 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗼, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲. ✋

In queste settimane cambiano i ritmi, le giornate si allungano e gran parte del lavoro si divide 𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗶 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶 𝗲 𝗹𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮.

È un periodo intenso, ma è anche 𝘂𝗻𝗼 𝗱𝗶 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶 𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗼 𝗹’𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼. 🍷

The 2026 harvest is now in full swing, and these days 𝘄𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗼𝘁. 🍇

After months spent tending the vines, checking the bunches and waiting for just the right moment, it’s finally time to harvest. ✂️

𝗕𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱, 𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀. ✋

During these weeks, the pace changes, the days get longer, and much of our work is split 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘆𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿.

It’s an intense time of year, but also 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴. 🍷

🫒 𝗢𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝗴𝗹𝗶 𝘂𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘁𝗶 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶 😄

Sono passati circa due mesi da quando abbiamo installato le trappole per monitorare la 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗹’𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗼 e, ad oggi, i segnali sono davvero molto positivi.

Gli attacchi sono stati 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘀𝗶 𝗻𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗶 e questo ci ha permesso di passare un estate tranquilla, senza dover intervenire 𝗰𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗶, grazie anche alle temperature elevate e alle poche piogge, arrivate però nei momenti giusti.

Manca ancora molto alla raccolta, quindi la nostra attenzione continua sapendo che c'è ancora tanto tempo davanti a noi.
Restate aggiornati e incrociamo le dita affinché le olive arrivino sane e rigogliose fino al momento della raccolta.🌿

🫒 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶 𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 😄

It’s been about two months since we installed the traps to monitor the 𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗹𝘆 and, so far, the signs have been extremely positive.

Attacks have been 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁, allowing us to enjoy a worry-free summer without having to use 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. The high temperatures and limited rainfall have also helped, with the rain arriving at just the right moments.

There is still a long way to go before harvest, so we’ll continue to keep a close eye on the olive groves, knowing that there is still plenty of time ahead.
