🍷 Cantina della settimana: Quilabio

Con sede a Neive, Quila è un progetto nato nel 2019 dalla visione di A. Bisso, con un’impronta biologica e una produzione attenta anche ai percorsi meno convenzionali del vino piemontese con varietà autoctone rare.
Per il Roero, l’elemento più interessante è l’ingresso, dal 2023, di un vigneto nell’area roerina: una parcella in forte pendenza, esposta a sud, piantata per circa due terzi a Nebbiolo e per un terzo ad Arneis. Da qui nascono i vini con cui Quila interpreta anche questo territorio, affiancando alla sede neivese un lavoro concreto sulle colline del Roero.

Questo sabato, il 24/01/2026 all'Hotel Villa Pamphili a Roma si terrà l'evento "Un Mare di Foglie", organizzato dall'unica guida per vini biologici in Italia (.bio), dove si potranno assaggiare oltre 1000 etichette premiate nell'edizione 2026. per i biglietti

I vini di Quila hanno ottenuto "un mare di premi" ma il regolamento ci permette di presentarne solo due all'evento e saranno questi (elencati anche i premi dalle altre guide e pubblicazioni):

Friday is a good day for new releases, isn't it? Just got the labels etched by , so please meet:

Once upon a time I came across a sparkling wine, made by Tenute Olbios () in Sardinia, which carried my name. It’s a DOCG wine made with Vermentino, that’s the local name of what we call Favorita in Piedmont. After some research I found out that “bisso” in Sardinia is the name of a local mussel that produces the so-called sea silk, a very expensive natural material. The wine was priced respectively. There have been no new vintages on the market for many years and only in 2025 Olbios released the 2014 vintage. As my first sparkling was planned to be released the same year and is made of the same grape (with a dollop of Muscat) I decided to name it after my brother : his name is composed of the same letters as mine but in different order...⏭️ (see more at ).

The WineHunter Awards 2025 are out! Quila has scored 3 red bubbles this year. Here's some info about the winner:

«Time ago, while driving around I noticed this vineyard and asked my agronomist if he knew who that crazy man was that had planted a vertical row vineyard on such a steep slope. He said he didn't know. Wintertime of 2023, a friend of mine asks me whether I could be interested in renting a vineyard in Roero. Of course I was, I've lived in Roero for 5 years and wanted to make Roero wines too. And that was the „crazy vineyard”. I asked the owner how on Earth he had worked on this „slide”, one can just roll down while driving the tractor. He said that actually the horizontal line vineyard is more dangerous and that his brother-in-law killed himself in this way. The latter was ... „Jeff”, the winegrower my Langhe Nebbiolo is dedicated to! The circle closed. I couldn't say „No”, so I took the vineyard over.

On July 6th, 2023, the vineyard was severely hit by hail, that destroyed 2/3 of the crop. So this wine is my first Roero red from the „big, beautiful hail” vintage.

The artwork for this wine is a reproduction of a street art painting of Eli Revzin , from Tel Aviv, Israel, named “The pray of Otso”, the latter being a Finnish bear god (don’t ask!) The story behind the artwork is even longer than that of the wine, so I invite you to read about it on the website.» Bisso A , winemaker

The WineHunter Awards 2025 are out! Quila has scored 3 red bubbles this year. Here's some info about the winner:
«The vineyard where this wine comes from is the cru (MGA) Marcorino, the only MGA entirely within the city limits of Neive. It belongs to the family of Roberto’s (.wine) wife – Elisa. That was the name that was written on the fermentation vat and on the tonneau where the Barbaresco was aged. Perelisa = Per Elisa, which translated means “for (in honor of) Elisa”. Besides, one of Beethoven’s most popular compositions carries the same name (“Für Elise”) and is joyful, light and harmonious as, I assume, this wine is too.

This was the third harvest from Elisa’s vineyard that we vinified at Taverna’s. The vineyard faces South for the most part, which 10 years back was a blessing but now is a curse. We were cautious as we didn’t know how a young Nebbiolo vineyard would have reacted to 2022’s Sahara summer, but the results were quite impressive.» Bisso A., winemaker.
