Up at 5 a.m. to walk almost four miles from our hotel to San Luca, just to catch the sunrise. And it was worth every step. 🌅

An iconic symbol of Bologna, the sanctuary was built between 1723 and 1757 and overlooks the city, connected to it by a covered portico of 666 arches. Its bond with Bologna goes back centuries: the annual procession dates back to 1433, when the image of the Madonna and Child was brought into Bologna to pray for an end to torrential rains threatening the harvest.
