Karl Egger and his sister restored two old dilapidated buildings in Radda di Chianti in Tuscany by finding the perfect balance of rustic and modern style. The charming residences "Pianvecchio" and "Castiglioni" were finished in 2019 and 2020. They are situated in one of Italy’s most beautiful areas with its characteristic hilly landscape where historic places and well cultivated vineyards with ter

raced olive groves emerge between wide oak forests. Since the restauration is finished, the villas are open for bookings. We are looking forward to welcoming you soon to the Tenuta di Carleone villas. Overview of our villas:

In addition to the villas, the Egger family also runs a successful winery which is also located in the heart of the Chianti region. On more than 10 hectare, the winery “Castiglioni” comprises vineyards where mainly Sangiovese and Merlot are grown. The winery is run by Karl Egger and his friend Sean. Since the beginning, it is important for them to ensure organic farming which you can even taste in the outstanding quality of the wine.

The 2024 Il Guercio is fabulous. Bright and intensely aromatic, the 2024 is so impressive. Rose petal, lavender, crushed rocks, mint and white pepper lend tons of nuance. Stems exalt floral and savory character. Il Guercio is one of the most original w**es in Chianti Classico, and one of the finest 2024s I have tasted so far. Magnificent.

“Sean O’Callaghan is one of the most inspired growers in Chianti Classico. These new releases are absolute knockouts. Minimalist intervention in the vineyard, vinification with a healthy percentage of stems and a very light hand with oak are some of the signatures of a house style that is all about finesse. The 2024 Guercio, 100% Sangiovese, is one of my early favorites in this tricky vintage. I can’t recommend these w**es highly enough.”
