I used to take pictures of calm mornings sipping my Unimatic coffee. These days I have trouble keeping track of the mug. 🤪
This is one of my favorite photos from two years ago (?!) after you joined us earth side. It’s one of the last I have of my morning coffee, but one of the first with you, Miss Montana Rose. 🌹☕️
I’ve been lucky to feel gratitude wash over me so many times in this life, but never as much as these days. These crazy, chaotic, awestruck, lovestruck, fierce, humbled, exhausted, inspiring days of getting to be your Mama.
I’ve given talks on stages about choosing the title you embody in your life, about being given the title of “owner” early on and learning how to live and stretch into it. But the title of Mama, it’s one you can’t choose. It might be the only one that has to choose you.
I’ve always been such a big believer in going out and getting what you want (don’t get me wrong, I still am). But I now have a deep appreciation for the things in life that can’t be gotten. That no level of hustle can provide. Your smile, your giggle, being your safety and your best friend. Nursing you to sleep, getting to be the first face you see smiling down at you when you wake up, I hadn’t lived until I felt that love.
Coffee used to slow me down. And it will again. I’m eternally grateful for the years of conditioning, of learning to savor the little moments. Thanks to the Unimatic. And to BRAVE Conversations. They’ve been a lifeline to me in this crazy phase of becoming, unbecoming and unfolding.
Monty girl, Thank you for birthing me into a new chapter of love, devotion and expression. 🌹
To all the Moms and maternal figures out there, your job is the most important on the planet. You get hardly any credit, no wage, little thanks. But you get those giggles, smiles and access to moments that have the potential to fill your soul more than anything else in the world can. We’re the luckiest. Thank you for being. Thank you for the unspoken network of understanding in this wild ride of birthing and raising a human.
Raising my mug to you today and every day ❤️ even if it’s cold 😉. I know yours probably is, too. Happy Mother’s Day.
