A wine I haven’t made in 5 years. Not because I didn’t want to! I usually sell the white grapes that grow in my mostly-Sangiovese vineyard and concentrate on making red wines. But last September, the Trebbiano looked too good not to keep.

The cleaned frescos .magnani are wonderful. IMO ideal ambience for a wine tasting. 😉

The blend for the 2024 wines is done. The top cuvée is a mix of the best barrels and Clayvers of wine from the best vineyard parcel.

Canaiolo was the “Merlot of Tuscany,” I am told—plush and fruity—back in the days when it was planted among Sangiovese vines and destined to make up part of the blend for Chianti Classico. My 1946 vineyard has a few hundred Canaiolo vines, and last year, I made wine from their grapes.
