The new MaraX3 is a real game changer: the first heat exchanger espresso machine to offer integrated flow customization as a standard feature or as Lelit calls it, Pagaia.

But what exactly does Pagaia do?

In simple terms, it gives you full control over the flow.

Unlike traditional flow control kits that many of us have installed over the years — which mechanically regulate water at the group head — Pagaia takes a completely different approach. It electronically controls the pump, managing the water flow before it reaches the group and, ultimately, the coffee bed.

Turn the paddle clockwise, and pump power increases. This raises pressure and flow, allowing you to shape the extraction exactly the way you want.
