Did you know that...
a group of wine producers in the provinces of Padua, Vicenza, and Treviso have come together in the project “Great Traditional Grape Varieties in Veneto” recently.
(Riassunto in 🇮🇹 alla fine del post)
In Veneto, in areas such as the Colli Berici, the Colli Euganei, and the Agno Valley, French (“Bordeaux”) grapes have been cultivated since the early 19th century.
The story goes that Prince d’Aremberg brought Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon to the Costozza area in 1835 when he purchased an estate there.
Documentation indicates that by the mid-19th century, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir were commonly grown in the Vicenza area.
Carménère was also introduced during that period, though it was often confused with Cabernet Franc in the Veneto.
🍷 Wines made with French grapes have developed a distinct style in the Veneto.
🍷 The influence of the Alps, the Adriatic Sea, and the winds blowing in from Eastern Europe has, over the centuries, given rise to a unique terroir. The wines are special thanks to their “balance and freshness”.
Here at Masari, we are proud to produce wines from the French grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir on both volcanic and calcareous-clay soils.
We aim to express the unique subalpine territory and climate of the Agno Valley in our wines.

🇮🇹
