From the Rock to the Glass: The True Identity of Glera. This historic grape variety, with its large, winged clusters, owes its name to the Friulian term glarea, derived from the Latin *ghiaia*, which already reveals its identity: a vigorous variety that thrives best on steep, stony terrain.Amid the steep limestone amphitheaters of Valdobbiadene, the vines sink their roots into the stone and absorb its essence, giving rise to a wine with an unmistakable character: freshness, notes of green apple, and delicate hints of wisteria.
