We are part way through a major farm refurb diversifying into horse track livery, farm stay holidays, rare breeds and produce growing.

Was curious to see where my ponies spend most of their time.

This was the overnight resulted 7pm to 7am, dry weather.

3 haynets (as I have them on a slight diet), so running out of hay and needing to forage more.

Very useful video from Areion Academy to show the correlation between thrush and a contacted heels.

This explains why some horses don’t recover from thrush. Correct the anatomy (through corrective trimming) stop the problem 😁

I think the ponies were a little more interested in tucking into the banks than the cows 😋

I do love how chilled these two are around other livestock. I believe horses to be instinctual scared of pigs though and wonder if there is any basis to this? 🤔

Growing up our centres of the track to either make hay or to graze once it’s dried off as standing hay. After the seeds have dropped the grass contains less sugar, so better for the horses.

Interesting watching the early seeding grass varieties taking hold (lots of cocksfoot at the moment dropping its seed heads) and all the herbs (aka w**ds!) coming up.

This diversity in our organic meadow is so good for livestock, much better than feeding a mono crop.
