Whilst Kasia, Paul and Daniele have now returned home from our epic Tuscan w**e trip, Neil and I are continuing our adventures in the motorhome. But there was one very special stop we simply had to make along the way - a visit to our dear friend and former Dunell’s colleague, Ilario Utichi.
It’s hard to believe that Ilario moved to Italy 20 years ago! Some of you will undoubtedly remember him for his extraordinary ability to sell ice to Eskimos! 😂 We’ve spent a wonderful time reminiscing about his days in Jersey and his time at Dunell’s, particularly those legendary visits to the Beaumont shop, where he would take the ladies by the hand as they popped in to buy water, only for them to leave with a trolley full of w**e! 🍷
Now 81, Ilario’s memory is as wonderful as ever, and he still remembers so many of our customers with great fondness and the countless stories that made those days so special. It has been an absolute joy to sit together, share old memories, laugh about the good old days and enjoy his delicious cooking and a glass or two of Chianti Reserva.
Some people leave a lasting impression wherever they go, and Ilario is most certainly one of them!
He sends his love and very best wishes to everyone who remembers him. We know there will be plenty of you who will smile at this photo and remember this very special character with great affection.
Ilario, it was so lovely to see you again. Here’s to old friends, wonderful memories and the people who remain part of our story, no matter how many years have passed.
