Honored to be invited by Royal Peist Kelly of the Haile I Selassie I Jah Rastafari Royal Ethiopian Judah Coptic Church to attend the African Liberation Day Ceremony at the Tabernacle of Praises -Malvern. We learned, we communed, we experienced the power of Nyabinghi drumming and the kind fellowship offered to all guests.

This was such a fun project. We were asked to put together a collection of our nursery plants for a new Airbnb property where the client brought us a selection of pots and let us get creative. We have a beautiful selection of nursery plants indoor, and outdoor as well as fruit tree's so it was challenging to narrow it down.

Solar Installation Info:

Many have asked who handled our solar installation, so here it is:

We worked with Mark Burke of West Tec Solar (pend Inc.), a recommended local provider with years of island-wide experience (+1 876-420-4834 / [email protected]).

The service was professional from start to finish—on time, clean, and efficient. Our 18-panel system with 2 battery's and inverter was installed in just two days, with power up and running from day one.

The crew was respectful, organized, and clearly experienced. Overall, it felt like working with a well-established, high-standard operation.

Grateful for the quality of work and confident in recommending based on our experience.

Another Day in My Jamaican Story

Today marks a meaningful turning point for Tafara.

After a long stretch of challenges and frustration—especially navigating those unforgettable JPS moments filled with "what next" laughter and tears - WE'VE OFFICIALLY TRANSITIONED TO A FULLY OFF GRID SUSTAINABLE ORGANIC FARM ( yes I'm yelling). YES… we broke up with JPS. It’s not us, it’s them, like worst relationship ever, in fact consider this a public service hazard warning. DO NOT DATE 😄

With a robust solar system now installed, Tafara is running on independent, reliable power—and for the first time in 6 months, everything just… works. No guesswork, no sudden surprises, no spasmodic on again off again relationship with fans, no more “light gone again, but left me hanging with a giant bill?” moments.

Beyond the laughs, this is a big step forward. It gives us a solid foundation for growth, resilience, and long-term sustainability, while keeping us aligned with what we set out to build.

We’re especially grateful for what this means for our ongoing Melissa recovery efforts. Having consistent current and connectivity makes a real difference—it allows us to focus on progress instead of disruption.

We are giddy with excitement for the progress—and yes, very happy to kick that JPS light bill drama to the curb. 😄

We need to support Jamaican educators, they are heros working hard to make positive change in the classroom. Tafara Farm is so proud to be a part of grassroots Agricultural initiatives in Westmoreland Schools.

Several years ago we sat in the same staff room at Excelsior High School as teachers, today we sit together in the same office at the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and information as policy makers. Our mission remains the same; working towards leaving the education system better than we found it.
