New Online Platform Enables Over 200 Women-Owned Businesses in the beginning from Local Communities to Sell Their Products Online Targeting over 1000 projects by end of 2019
Amman – Jordan - Under the patronage of H.E. Minister of Social Development Mrs. Basma Ishaqat, Bloom Dead Sea Gift Enterprise launched on Saturday the Women’s E-mall and Bazaar at the Housing Bank Park in Abdoun, with the support of the USAID Jordan Local Enterprise Support Project (LENS). The Women’s E-mall and Bazaar is an online platform and physical marketplace that aims to sell the products of at least 200 women-owned micro and small enterprises (MSEs) and home-based businesses (HBBs) across Jordan, thus widening their customer base and expanding their access to new markets. In addition, the initiative involves preparing the MSEs and HBBs with the necessary skills to effectively market and sell their local hand-made products. The Women’s E-mall and Bazaar directly impacts women from local communities around Jordan. Job opportunities, especially for women, are scarce in rural and underprivileged areas around the country, where most women work from home to support their families through their small income-generating businesses. However, the income they make is typically very small and is volatile and therefore, does not cover all their expenses.
