Your sign to have a Japanese breakfast in F*kuoka 🇯🇵🍚🔥
Found this little robata spot and honestly… this was such a good way to start the day.

We got the salmon + unagi set 🐟🤎 and you get to watch the owner prepare and grill everything right in front of you. The whole idea behind the place is to let the ingredients speak for themselves. Carefully prepared, freshly grilled, and served simply.

And the set comes with side dishes, rice + soup, with one rice refill because obviously… we’re taking advantage of that 😭🍚

What I loved most was sitting right by the grill and watching the whole process. You can really see how much care the owner puts into preparing and cooking each dish.

📍 Robata no Itookashi, F*kuoka
⏰ Breakfast: 8AM–2PM
📌 Reservations recommended through TableCheck and Tabelog. It’s a small space, so definitely book ahead!

If you’re planning a F*kuoka trip, save this one. 🫶🏻🇯🇵

Would you go for the salmon or unagi? 👀

A little café with so much charm.☺️🤎

Little Stand may be small, but it was easily one of our favorite café stops in F*kuoka. Great drinks, a cozy atmosphere, and the kind of warm hospitality that makes you want to stay a little longer.

The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, and you could really feel the care that goes into every cup. Sometimes it's the smallest places that leave the biggest impression.

Definitely one we'll be thinking about long after this trip.

If you're café hopping around F*kuoka, make sure to add this little gem to your list.

A taste of traditional Japan in a luxury, design-forward ryokan

Small, seasonal courses, eacg one built around one ingredient at its best. Where presentation is just as important as the flavor. This is what a proper Kaiseki dinner looks like.

One of the best meals of the whole trip. Can’t wait to share what we had for breakfast next.

Tucked into the hills of Yufuin, Kai brought together everything we love about a proper ryokan stay: hot springs, quiet rainy mornings, and food that turns every meal into an event.

We started the day with a little adventure exploring the area, taking in the summer scenery, then joined Kai’s straw-twining activity, weaving our own little amulets by hand before heading back for a full Kaiseki experience. Course after course of small, seasonal, beautifully plated dishes made the whole night feel like a slow, delicious event.

Mornings came with rain, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying a tradition Japanese-style breakfast.

And to close it all out, I ended in the onsen, before heading to the lounge for the best seat in the house. Cold tea, popsicles, and a view of the rice terraces that somehow looked even better in the rain. 🌧️🌾

📌 Save this for your next trip to Yufuin.

NEW VLOG just dropped! Link below. 🎥

We finally made it to Kai Yufuin! This Hoshino Resorts ryokan sits right in the middle of Yufuin's rice terraces, and honestly, even with rain messing up our plans on day two, it ended up being one of our most relaxing stays as a family.

In this vlog: our room (we got the TA3, three beds, and the terrace view outside our window was unreal), soaking in the onsen, trying the straw twining amulet activity, and a full kaiseki dinner where our host walked us through literally every dish. Woke up to rain the next morning, so we just leaned into it, onsen in the rain hits different.

If you've ever wondered what it's like to stay at a proper ryokan with the family, hopefully this gives you a good feel for it. Let us know in the comments if you've been to Yufuin before!

Rainy mornings, sun-soaked afternoons, and the quiet moments in between. ☔☀️🌿

Kai Yufuin reminded us that the best trips aren’t about perfect weather. They’re about slowing down, wandering without a plan, and finding beauty in every little moment.

Here’s a small glimpse of our summer days. The full cozy travel diary is coming this weekend. 🤍🎥
