Born from a tradition of mass-craftsmanship that dates back to the Edo period, Hasami ware was originally created to be durable, versatile tableware for everyday households across Japan.

That legacy of smart design shines through in how these cups handle daily life. They are stackable and resilient, making them the ultimate companions for your morning matcha, afternoon drip coffee, or evening tea. By blending four centuries of porcelain-making heritage with clean, modern utility, Hasami-yaki proves that traditional craft doesn't have to stay on a display shelf—it belongs right in your hands, every single day.

The magic of Bizen-yaki lies in its raw, unglazed authenticity—where flame, ash, and earth leave their unpredictable signature on every single piece.

Only 30 large cups were successfully produced from the Spring 2026 kiln firing. Because every single firing is a one-of-a-kind event dictated by the wood-fire flames, once these 30 pieces are gone, they can never be recreated.

Given the extremely limited batch size, they are expected to sell out very soon. Claim yours and bring a truly unique piece of millennial history to your daily ritual before they disappear.

What makes a Bizen-yaki cup truly magical isn't just its millennial lineage—it’s how it transforms the everyday ritual of drinking.

Because these vessels emerge from the kiln entirely bare, the dense earth interacts directly with your beverage. Tea enthusiasts often notice how water softens and green tea tastes noticeably rounder and smoother when rested in Bizen ware, thanks to the microscopic porousness of the unglazed clay. Every scorch mark, flash of red, and ash dusting is a permanent fossil of a raging wood-fire kiln that can never be replicated twice.

Hold one in your hands and feel the raw, organic warmth of a thousand-year conversation between earth and fire.

Nested along the coastline of Aichi Prefecture, Tokoname stands proudly as one of Japan’s historic "Six Ancient Kilns," with a pottery lineage stretching back to the late Heian period.

The region is especially famous for its rich, iron-dense local clay (known as shudei), which fires to a smooth, unglazed finish that feels incredible in the hand. Over centuries, Tokoname artisans perfected the balance between utilitarian strength and minimalist elegance, a heritage that shapes the clean, understated silhouette of this cup.

Please note that these cups are currently not in production while we search for a suitable producer to carry on this incredible craft.

Hailing from the quiet hills of Hyogo Prefecture, Tanba-yaki (or Tamba-sueyoshi) is recognized as one of Japan's storied "Six Ancient Kilns," with a heritage stretching back nearly a thousand years to the late Heian period.

Historically, local artisans relied on climbing kilns (noborigama) fired by wood over several days, leaving the pottery at the mercy of flying ash and intense flames. This natural process creates the signature earthy textures, unpredictable glaze flows (hai-kabu), and rich iron-oxide hues known as hai-suzuri. In this modern cup, that deep historical legacy comes alive in a ribbed silhouette that offers both a comfortable grip and a connection to centuries of Japanese craft.

Bring the warmth of a thousand-year-old tradition to your daily ritual.

Rooted in the ancient soils of Mie Prefecture, Iga-yaki traces its origins back to the Azuchi-Momoyama period, when local kilns began crafting utilitarian pieces shaped by the region’s porous, heat-retaining clay.

Because the soil contains fossilized remains from an ancient lake bed, it naturally handles extreme temperatures exceptionally well, making Iga ware historically famous for wood-fired cookware and vessels that capture the organic essence of the earth. In this cup, that deep ceramic heritage translates into a tactile contrast between the rugged unglazed base and the smooth, flowing glaze above.

Bring a piece of Japan’s storied pottery history into your daily tea ritual.
