Photo Dump: Sun Moon Lake. As largest lake in Taiwan, this is a must visit place in Taiwan. It is even worth to spend 1-2 nights to fully immerse yourself in.

The lake is best explored with boat and bicycle. With either boat or bicycle, stop by at Ita Thao to taste Taiwan street food, and also the native aboriginal food from around the lake.

My favorite place is an Owl-themed coffee shop that serves locally grown coffee. The central mountain range in Taiwan provided good place to grow coffee.

If I ever come back to Sun Moon Pake, I’ll be sure to stay 2 nights and rent a bicycle to ride around the lake

Taiwan Photo Dump: Yehliu Geopark. The strong wind of Phillipine Sea slowly eroded the soft rocks, leaving the harder top part to form mushroom rock. Then people start naming those rocks according to their intepretation.

The most famous rock, is The Queen’s head. There is always a queue of people to take photo. It is said that the head will fall in the next 10 years, due to the wind keep eroding the neck.

Taiwan Photo Dump: Shilin Night Market. Dubbed as the largest and most famous night market, one should be ready to walk shoulder to shoulder among the crowd. Worry not though, as the experience is well rewarded with delicious Taiwanese street food.

Slide for the must try food: stinky tofu, oyster, sausage (I prefer the small one).

Taipei Dump: National Palace Museum

If you ever went to Forbidden City in Beijing, and wondering why the room and halls for the Emperors are so empty, words say that the ROC took it to Taiwan when they retreat.

Some of those artefact from Forbidden City is displayed in National Palace Museum. Their collection includes the Imperial Edicts, paintings, maps, and also ceramics.

The museum’s collection has grown from Chinese history to include European collection. Don’t forget to stop by at room 107 for those collections in par with those European museum
