New releases:

2024 Chardonnay >S<
From vines in Bechtheimer Stein. A cooler expression than previous vintages, with flinty minerals, beautiful acidity and fruit. >S< = Super Value!

2024 Chardonnay >R<
A selection of the most spectacular small wooden casks. Cool and mineral driven with additional depth and complexity compared to the >SR< 2017 which we tasted last year.

2023 Bechtheim Pinot Noir
Several plots in the village planted to Burgundy clones. 2023 is dark fruit driven with beautiful structure and length. Youthful still and will improve with a year or three! Insane value!

2023 Hasensprung Pinot Noir
From a single vineyard "Hasensprung" (Rabbit's Leap) in Bechtheim. A windy and cooler site planted to Burgundian clones that yield small berries. Crazy aromatics here, beautifully silky with red fruits and mineral. Reminded me of the best of 2021 red Burgundy. Drinking beautifully now but has many long years ahead.

Fabulous visit at Weingut Spiess in Rheinhessen with Sina and Johannes.

We connected the dots between the vineyards, the winemaker and the wines.

Stunningly elegant wines with high tensile strength. Velvety Pinot Noirs, mineral Chardonnays, intense Rieslings, a racy Pinot Blanc and a Syrah that drives like Cote Rotie.

Had fun conducting a Japanese (not just Hokkaido) Wine Master Class with Wine & Co!

Probably the 1st of its kind in Singapore covering 8 Prefectures: Hokkaido, Yamagata, Gunma, Niigata, Nagano, Yamanashi, Hiroshima and Miyazaki! I'm glad it was eye opening for the class with many takeaways. :)

4. What does Japanese Wines Offer?

Beautiful new releases from Domaine des Tengeijis

I caught up with Tengeiji-san and Shimokawa-san of while in Tokyo to taste some of their new releases.

Their wines continue to delight - made with expertise, passion and a Japanese flair. The wines have a deep sense of varietal, place and winemaker's signature.

La Sincérité (Sincerity) Muscat Bailey A
La Montagne (The Mountain) Merlot
Lueur D'espoir (Glimmer of Hope) Koshu

These are wines that appeal both to Burgundy and Japanese wine lovers. They're featured in the hippest places in Tokyo.

For those who have trouble finding the domaine on Google maps, they are just 15 min south of Beau Paysage.
