Strawberry Shortcake Season is here, and I have one rule: take all the help you want from the store on the cake, but please, always make your whipped cream. There’s no contest.

And a trick that makes this one special but easy: warm your strawberries in a saucepot for 10-20 minutes until they go glossy and jammy. No waiting around for them to macerate, and it rescues even slightly underripe berries.

My perfect strawberry shortcake:
🍓 Cake: your favorite boxed mix (vanilla, yellow, or angel food). Or use biscuits (I’m Team Cake!)
🍓 Strawberries: 2 lbs, warmed until jammy, sweetened with a little honey or sugar only if they need it (or cold macerate with sugar in fridge for 30-60 minutes)
🍓 Whipped cream: 1 pint heavy cream + vanilla + powdered sugar, whisked to stiff-ish peaks (or my coconut whip for dairy-free) ~5-10 minutes with hand mixer or by hand with a whisk (heavy cream must be cold!)

Truly the perfect easy summer dessert. Save this one for your next backyard gathering.

Honestly rating everything I ate in NYC this weekend 🍕🍔

burger → 9.5/10
→ 8/10
cronut → 10/10 🥐
→ 7/10
hot dog → 6/10 (but it’s a rite of passage so 10/10 first time)
→ 7.5/10
→ 6/10 (but 9/10 for vegan food)
Pakistani chopped cheese → 10/10 🏆
→ 7/10
→ 9/10

The Pakistani chopped cheese from was the best thing I ate all weekend and I can’t stop thinking about it. If you go to New York, go there. And yes, the original cronut lives up to the hype.

This turmeric drink is one of the most anti-inflammatory things you can make for yourself before bed, and it takes about 5 minutes.

Here’s the thing most people miss: turmeric on its own doesn’t absorb well. Add a pinch of black pepper and it increases curcumin absorption by up to 2,000%. And you need a little fat to make it work, which is why full-fat coconut milk is my go-to.

Golden milk is a traditional Indian recipe that’s been enjoyed for thousands of years and is now loved around the world for its healing benefits.

I use ground turmeric because it’s more concentrated than fresh root. The drying process removes the water, so you get more benefits per teaspoon.

This skillet lasagna has all the cozy flavors of classic lasagna, but without the layering. Just pasta, sauce, and lots of melty cheese baked together in one pan. It’s simple, flexible, and perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Quick Skillet Lasagna
• 16 oz pasta (broken lasagna noodles or a flat noodle with curly edges that mimics lasagna), cooked al dente
• 4 cups your favorite marinara or meat sauce
• 2 cups shredded mozzarella
• 1 ball burrata
• 1/4 cup grated parmesan

Preheat oven to 350°F.
1. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with healthy cooking spray or lightly butter it.
2. Cook pasta until al dente and drain.
3. Toss pasta with the 4 cups of sauce and spread into the baking dish.
4. Top with mozzarella and parmesan, then place the burrata right on top.
5. Bake 30–40 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Optional: add cooked sausage, ground beef, spinach, mushrooms, or zucchini if you want to bulk it up.

Day 1 in Tokyo — 📍Ginza + Tsukiji Market

Started at the hotel, headed to Tsukiji Fish Market (a MUST in Tokyo), wandered Ginza shops, stopped for matcha, and ended the day with a classic egg salad sandwich from 7-Eleven (if you know you know!) Sharing everything we ate and drank today — dinners, and day two coming up next 🇯🇵🍜🍣
