The first-ever edition of Europe’s 50 Best Bars marked a new chapter for the global bar community.

To celebrate the occasion, Patrick of Drink Kong joined the NIKKA Whisky booth, serving signature cocktails and celebrating the craftsmanship, creativity, and hospitality that bring the global bar community together.

Meanwhile, HIMKOK in Oslo was named The Best Bar in Norway, sponsored by Nikka Whisky. Speaking moments after receiving the award, the team reflected on what they believe is their secret recipe: staying humble. They also shared what the recognition means, not only for their bar, but for the region as a whole: “Together, as Scandinavia, we’ve arrived.”

Congratulations to everyone who made this year’s event such a memorable celebration of hospitality, craftsmanship, and community.

Introducing Taketsuru Pure Malt Essentials.
A limited-edition series that explores the essence of Taketsuru Pure Malt through a five-year journey leading to its 30th anniversary in 2030.
First introduced in 2000, Taketsuru Pure Malt was a bold yet refined expression that brought together the distinctive characters of Yoichi and Miyagikyo. In choosing to bear the name of NIKKA founder Masataka Taketsuru, the expression embodied a bold vision, conviction, and a pioneering spirit.
The first chapter of this series highlights Yoichi Distillery’s signature coal-fired distillation, a traditional technique preserved since the distillery’s founding. This time-honoured practice creates the depth and complexity that define the character of this special edition.
Crafted in honour of Masataka Taketsuru’s craftsmanship, vision, and pioneering spirit.

“The bar owner knew everyone, and everyone knew him.”

Growing up in a small town in Tuscany, Luca Cappietti discovered that a bar could be much more than a place to enjoy a drink. It could be a place where people gather, connect, and feel a sense of belonging.

That early inspiration became a lifelong journey in bartending, one that eventually led him to NIKKA Perfect Serve 2025.

After first winning the Italian finals in 2015, returning to the competition ten years later meant starting again — challenging himself to learn, improve, and grow.

The pursuit of hospitality is a continuous journey, where every experience, every encounter, and every challenge shapes the path forward.

A remarkable week surrounding North America’s 50 Best Bars, bringing together some of the world’s most exciting bar talents and destinations.

Highlights included an exceptional guest shift with HIMKOK from Oslo and MARTINY’S from New York, to special gatherings at June and Meo in Vancouver, the week was filled with exceptional cocktails, meaningful connections, and memorable moments.

The mark of a father can be found in the values, dedication, and spirit that continue to inspire for years to come.

Remembered as the Father of Japanese Whisky, Masataka Taketsuru travelled to Scotland to learn the craft firsthand. Yet his journey was shaped by more than whisky making alone, embracing the people, traditions, and craftsmanship behind it.

Honoring those lessons, Masataka helped shape the foundations of whisky making in Japan. What he built reflected not only the craft he learned, but also the values and humanity that accompanied it.

Today, those values continue to inspire those who carry the craft forward.

From restoring barrels to preparing them for years of maturation, every action plays a role in shaping the whisky’s future.

Rooted in NIKKA’s founding in Yoichi, the cooper’s craft has been carried forward through generations. Barrels are burned, shaped, repaired, and prepared, each stage influencing the whisky’s journey long before it reaches the glass.

Often unseen, this work is woven into the distillery’s daily rhythm. Fire, water, oak, and time-honored craftsmanship come together to create barrels that will accompany the whisky through the years ahead.
