Summer beach trip done ☀️

Until recently, I didn’t know that beaches could be Blue Flag certified! It is similar to an accreditation awarded to beaches that meet high standards for safety, cleanliness and environmental management.

Did you know Tamilnadu has a Blue Flag beach too? Can you guess which one? 👀 Check the comments for the answer!

Zushi Beach is also Blue Flag certified, and considering how conveniently located it is from Yokohama, it makes such an easy summer getaway.

We decided to book an Airbnb close to the beach so we could slow down and enjoy the views, visit cafés overlooking the sea and, most importantly, walk back to our stay for a quick shower and change instead of relying on the public washrooms 😄

Summers in Japan can be brutal, and the heat feels even stronger on the beach. So, we planned our beach time either early in the morning before the sun became too intense or later in the evening when it was cooler.

We also went back to one of our favourite restaurants there, シーサイドイタリアン カンティーナ公式. We love the food, the beautiful beach views and their generous portions. Sometimes, after a good lunch there, you may not even be hungry for dinner! 😂

Have you visited Zushi Beach yet? Save this post for your next summer getaway and share it with someone you would love to go with! 🌊

Quick Oats Dosai ✨

No dosa batter? No problem!

This instant oats dosai comes together in under 30 minutes and is so crispy, wholesome, and delicious. Gently spiced with cumin, ginger, curry leaves, and a pinch of hing, then cooked with peanut oil for that perfect golden crunch.

A simple way to enjoy oats without feeling like you’re eating “healthy food.” 😄 I served with Allam pachadi (on the right) - sweet spicy ginger chutney and Radish and peanut chutney on the right. Tasted amazing and wanted to share with my Instagram family here !!

Save this for a busy weekday, and send it to someone who always says they don’t have time to cook! Or those who love dosa but don’t know where to start !!

Recipe :

🥣 Ingredients
• 1 cup rolled oats (blended into flour)
• ½ cup rice flour
• ¼ cup semolina (rava)
• 1/2 thumb sized ginger finely minced
• 1 green chilli, finely chopped (optional)
• 8 to 10 curry leaves, finely chopped
• 1/4 tsp of baking soda or eno salt
• ½ tsp cumin seeds
• A pinch of hing
• Salt to taste
• 1½ to 2 cups water
• Peanut oil (or oil of your choice)
Salt to taste

👩🏽‍🍳 Method

1. Blend the oats, rice flour, semolina into a fine flour.
2. Mix all the ingredients ( salt, cumin, green chillies, curry leaves, ginger, hing) together.
3. Add water gradually and mix with a whisk until@ no lumps and until the batter is thin and smooth.
4. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
5. Heat a lightly greased pan until hot.
6. Stir the batter before each dosa and add baking soda and pour it and make your dosas like crepe’s.
7. Drizzle a little peanut oil around the edges and cook until golden brown and crispy.

✨ Tip: Keep the batter thin and the pan hot for the crispiest dosai!

🍜 udon cravings 🤍

Some cravings just can’t wait. 🍜 Today it was a warm bowl of udon. One of the things I love about living in Japan is how comforting simple meals can be. No fancy plans, no long wait just walking into a local shop, ordering a bowl of hot udon, and slowing down for a few minutes.

Also… I’m slowly stepping out from behind the camera and showing up here a little more. 😊
Food will always be a part of my page, but you’ll also start seeing more of me life in Japan, beauty finds, skincare, makeup, and all the little moments in between tbh I have a lot to share and no more gatekeeping 😃🙌🏼

Have you tried Udon noodles before ?

This or That? 🍛👇

❤️ Team 1: Rice + Mor Kuzhambu + Crispy Okra

💛 Team 2: Vegetable Khichdi + Crispy Potato Roast

You can only choose ONE… no cheating! 😏

Tell me your pick in the comments and tag someone who’d argue with you. 😂

Save this for those “What should I cook today?” days. ❤️

If you know me, you know I’m not someone who keeps a big circle of friends. For me, it’s always been about quality over quantity.

And this one right here? She can look at me and already know what I’m about to do next. 😆🙌🏼

Happy 40th to my person. ❤️ Thank you for being the kind of friend everyone wishes they had. Here’s to a lifetime of laughter, inside jokes, and always having each other’s back.

Love you, Machi, you are the smartest, kindest, positive, grounded, empathetic person I’ve known I am proud to call my best friend. Happy Birthday to you !! 🥂✨
