There are only four people you should take advice from.
1. The example. Someone who's built what you want. If they haven't done it, they can't teach it. Don't ask someone without freedom how to get free. Study the people who have receipts, not opinions.
2. The anti-goal. Someone who's failed publicly but kept going. Because success often hides in the lessons. Failure teaches.
3. The truth teller. Someone who makes you uncomfortable. They tell you the truth, not what you want to hear. Growth doesn't come from being coddled.
4. The unbiased. Someone who gains nothing from your success. The outside often can see the inside most clearly. You win, doesn't matter to them. You lose, doesn't matter to them. They'll tell you where your bald spots are when no one else does. You don't have to like them. You just want to listen to them.
Everyone else, smile, nod, be nice, and move on. Because advice is free. But direction from the right people, that's pretty priceless.
